Question Fact For Fiction!?

webpage: http://www.xcceleration.com/sti.stagekit3.430.htm
Claim: 430hp at the crank w/o an fuel/turbo upgrades

Question: Why is it that i find this claim a bit hard to swallow? I am fairly new to boxer tuning, but i'm a quick study. I read alot and ask questions like it's my job. Can anyone offer an opinion about this kit? Anyone actually heard of these guys?

I am relatively new to boxer tuning as well but there is NO WAY that those types of numbers are reached.
FICTION.

Eh I can see 350 WHP with that kit. Pump up the boost quite a bit, the larger TMIC will allow for the air to be cooled more effectively, and the EM sounds pretty good. SloRice has STi with just EBC and turboback and he hit 275 WHP on a Mustang Dyno, which is significantly less than most dynos would have read it. The intake elbow is not needed though. I'd stick with a known compnay though like TXS and get the UTEC, turboback and bigger TMIC from like APS. Just my .02

Didnt see that it was for an STi. Still one hell of an upgrade but I agree with IBAUCLAPlaya that you should go with a know company and definitely get the UTEC.

I don't know, but to me seems like a lot of crap. I'd say that you would need more stuff in order to get 350 WHP.

I find that hard to believe. You would lean out if you put up the boost without any upgrades to the fuel system.

I agree with all of you. I probably should have mentioned that i have no intention what-so-ever to buy from these guys. They seem shady and do not offer dynos to backup their claims. I just thought it would make for interesting discussion. In my mind, it would be silly to go with an ecu upgrade that didnt involve the UTEC...save for the EMS by AEM.

excellent input gentlemen

I would say the fact that the kit includes an intake elbow for the factory Airbox, AND a shortram intake (which completly eliminates the factory airbox) would itself discredit that whole kit. Sure maybe it was just a minor oversight, but someone that is designing a part for my car better not be making even minor mistakes.

the only way i can see that being possible is maby if they used very high octane race gas.. the easystreet wrx that runs 9s use's 550cc sti injectors.. why because they use race gas and dont need extra fuel for cylinder cooling purposes.. but the stock sti turbo putting down 350whp is very hard for me to imagine.. i think its fiction.. but "might" be possible on race gas but doubtful..

Not hardly, maybe 320 on a dynojet but thats pushing it; I just tuned one in town with Headers, UP, TBE (Catless), Inlet and IC pipes to 19.5 psi (ran out of fuel for 93 pump) and only turned 306whp on a mustang. I know the intercooler might be their "hope" for another 10 hp, but without something else that number is just too high.

I might almost believe 325 on a dynojet...

I have an 05 sti with the xcceleration stage 2. a few hp shy of the three kit ,claims 340 whp / never had it on the dyno but the results are very impressive I don't know if you really read up on the kit but the gp moto piggy back has two selectable maps to switch from that account for race/pump gas, timing/all the other air fuel stuff and comes set up to run 18lbs of boost. I don't know if whp the numbers are true but I am pulling mid 12's on 93 octane. And yes the intake elbow is useless. The only bad thing with the kit is the manual boost controller, with drastic humidity/temp changes where I live I have already had to make minor adjustments to keep the boost level right, would be much easier w/ a good controller
