exhaust set up ?'s

ok so i jus got my 04 wrx and it already has headers, up pipe and down pipe, but has the stock cat back.

and ive been looking at cat back systems but they seem to be alot for my wallet at this time, and i was wondering since, the least the back pressure the better, would it be ok to run jus straight pipe from the down pipe back to a tip?

i was running open down pipe for a lil bit today and it sounded awesome but a lil too loud.
so im thinking this would give me power and add an awesome sound for a good price.

what do yall think of this idea?????

well its heckuva lot cheaper to have some exhayst shop run a length of pipe to the rear then to pay ridiculous money on some aftermarket piece.

i vote for straight pipe

well this would only be like 120 or so, and i dont really care about legality cause sops around here arnt that strict bout exhausts. but well see, i gotta pay for a ticket i got in my camaro and then im saving up for either that or a tuner, ill ###### end up getting the tuner first tho, but once i do get the exhaust ill post a vid or two.

I vote Tune over a CBE, performancewise it's the only option.

If you have just a CBE you DONT NEED EM,but EM is great for even stage 1 over stock. I had EM before my CBE and liked the power, just wanted sound after that.

The stock cat back is fine for what you have right now, a good tune would do wonders, although with the mods you mentioned I figure it might already have a tune, if not then you should get one soon, but otherwise just stick with what you have.

I have the cobb stage 2 with catless exhaust and I love it. You will gain some power and spool time by going with their cat back system, but if your emission laws and wallet will allow it I recomend the catless and you will need the AP so you won't be getting any check engine lights
