exhaust question (02 wrx)

hey guys, first time posting. 02 wrx with light mods, rfl bov, cobb air intake, aftermarket boost gauge, muffler. I maintain the car very well, runs awesome. I purchased headers and an uppipe for her. If I keep the oem downpipe and rest of the exhaust on the car, is there any problems im steering into? or any advice? thanks

Welcome I the site. Have you ever driven your car with he stock bpv on it instead of the rfl?.( saying this because these cars arnt meant to have a vent to atmospheric bov on them there meant to recirc the air back into the intake) And what brand header did you get? The stock up pipe on your year has a cat in it. So replacing it with a non catted up-pipe is a great idea. There will be a check engine light after install I'm pretty sure since you will be deleted cat.

yes I have, I bought the car completely stock, I didn't really notice a difference between stock and the rfl (turboXS) (although I have heard of not using the rfl AFTER I installed it, no problems with lag really. I guess you could say its a no name headed and up pipe. Heres the link.

I would steer far away from that. You get what you pay for I think your best bet would be to get a good brand name up-pipe and call it a day. Invidia makes one great brand very well known for around 200$ I think. Just my.02. Also if you really want a header you can always buy a stock one and send it out to grimme speed.

It just seams cheap to me. I hear that the cheap eBay stuff has bad welds and they rust out too easily, guys correct me if I'm wrong.

dreilichwrx 10-18-2013 10:24 PM

Return this immediately. A properly built up-pipe alone costs more than that. This item is a knock off of an already subpar product. A good entry level header starts at $700.

Broken header. Broken up-pipe. 100% probability.
