And when you push back on the throttle the ECU is expecting a volume of air that has now vanished.

I understand what you're saying, but you have to look at it in real time. Imagine how quickly the event takes place. It's a split second at most.

And, since I don't feel like arguing any more, I'll reiterate my original post - on a wideband O2 sensor, there is no change in AFR at any point when running a BOV as opposed to running a bypass valve.

A BOV does not cause a rich condition what so ever. Just like cosmo said, there is no change in A/F mixture. If your car runs lean or rich, then you have some other type of problem going on. A BOV and Bypass Valve are only open for an extremely short period of time. In most cases the throttle body is closed. Now, the only way I could possibly see the car running rich because of the BOV, would be if you were driving and let down off the throttle, and the BOV opens. But in that case, the BOV is still not open long enough to cause that kind of condition. The ECU cuts back on fuel whenever the throttle is released or being released.

I can only see it runnin rich if you have a bad BOV, jammed or not lubricated and causes it to react slower than it should. But it's all a part of quality and maintenance.

Question exhaust suggestions please

Exhaust Suggestions Pleasei'm looking to replace my stock exhaust (cat back for now) and am finding that pretty much all the models out there just have huge gaping holes for mufflers
i've spent my whole life making fun of those kinds of kids....so i came across the apexi world sport 2 pipe that looks pretty nice and doesn't seem like it'll sound like a diesel truck when i drive around. but i can't find any info online of the power gains that i'd get out of it.....i mean sure it'll sound/look nice. but i really don't care THAT much about looks or sounds...i want the POWER

I'm going for the Helix turbo back exhaust. And an up-pipe. It's supposed to be pretty loud, but the power gains sound pretty good. An estimated 20-30 horses to the wheels. Don't know if you were looking at the Helix kit, but it's just a suggestion. And all exhausts pop. Including the factory exhaust. It's just pockets of air and exhaust in the piping. It's unavoidable. But the factory exhaust has resinators, cats, and a restrictive muffler so you don't hear it as much. The BOV doesn't cause this sound. But with an aftermarket exhaust, you're gonna have to start getting used to the sound. You'll like it after a while.

I have the Bosal exhaust on my car and I love it. Looks similar to stock. Other "non-rice" exhausts are: Stromung/Cobb, Borla, TurboXS

Power gains will hardly be noticable with just a cat-back. I would say a cat-back would be used more to change the sound then increase horsepower. The gains will be minimal.

if you just put a catback on it wont do much at all.. because the exhaust still has to go threw 3 cats plus the crappy stock down pipe.. but say you got a 3 inch down pipe and put the stock cat back on that.. you would still have so nice hp.. but not as much if you had a 3inch catback also ..

A friend and I just installed the perrin up, dp, and cat-back dual tip today and it looks almost stock. Looks great though. Pipes aren't too big, but just big enough. A bit loud though. Love the way it sounds.

hmm, not sure, I'll ask Nick since he was working on the front of the car, but the whole thing took not much more than 4 hours. I spent a good bit of my time on the stupid exhaust hanger in the middle. POS...

Hey, are all these heat shields important? because we sure left a lot off...

lol, I'll see what i can do. One of my roommates has a nice sound recording set up since he's a DJ, and he already agreed help me out with that when we both have time. He'll probably even host it for me!
