Exhaust hardware.........

I lost a bolt to my downpipe it just fell off. Can i just go to a hardware store for new bolts and nuts. Will they have the right size. Should i use lock tight or elmers glu when i put the bolt back on?

i dropped a Nut to one of the bolts on my downpipe when i swapped it out and i ended up goig to what we call quicnick fasteners and getting a replacement. a fasteners would have them tho. i think its an M12 X 1.5 nut an bolt, but dont qoute me on that. it only locktight it if you know your never gonna take it off again. if you will id say just torque it to 40ft/lbs an itll be fine. good luck

... I can't believe you just said elmers glue. I had to re-read that.

I'm missing one too. Fine one relativally the same size and length at a hardware store with a matching nut. You'll be fine after that.

No, that's a new one on me. Not saying it won't work, but seems like it would just be for temporary holding. You mean just white glue, right?

Depending on what I'm doing (RC cars, real cars, mounting rifle scopes, etc.), I use different grades of Loctite. If I'm not mistaken, the red is the one that won't come loose, no how, no way... NEVER. The blue holds, but you can break it loose with effort. I think the red is what someone put on AJ Foyt's injectors at Indy one year. I think he broke three laptops when that happened.

Like people have said, a general hardware store or a Fastenal outlet will have what you want.

Red Loctite will come off. They use that stuff all the time on the engines at the factory. Then again, we have big airtools for removing those...

Tighten down the DP as tight as you can get it as well. 40 ft/lb is no where near enough. I have heard of the bolt pinging off due to the heat change w/ people tightening the bolt as much as they could.

well i stated 40 ft/lbs because when i installed my catless 3" perrin DP, the instructions said all bolt are to be tightened to 40 ft/lbs, then the car ran till normal temp and retighten again to 40 ft/lbs which is the stock tighten range. but good luck guys

Yay, so I went to this subie shop in town and they got a bolt for me (too short but temp fix). The dude tightened it, and another bolt w/o torqing it. I think he over tightened it because now I have a small exhaust leak. At idle, I can feel the small erratic puffs by the DP. Only noticed because I was removing my o2 simulator while the car was idling.

Not only did someone put some Red Loctite on his injector threads, they also stole his big sammich. He went to get a cold drink, and some lowdown stole his big sammich! Red Loctite is one thing, but big sammich stealin' is punishable by death in AJ's world.

Poor AJ. Poor, mad, fat AJ.
