Also more potential for heat soak and greater amounts of lag. Its just a further distance and more piping that the air has to travel before it gets to the engine.

Yeah, its a lot more money to go FMIC, but for my driving style im kinda pulled toward FMIC for the freeway part, but im guessing streetability may suffer and i still want useable power around town.

Will RA 5 speed gears be enough to handle this power potential? I hear they can take 300whp+ and for $1400 for the set, its not as bad as PPGs.

matters on how hard you push them obviously. People on here have broken RA gears at that power level. People here have had no problems with the 02 stock 5-speed at more power as well...

can i use a boost blow through tube to move the MAF and use a VTA BOV. Does this benefit the engine any, or is it just so you can use a VTA BOV?

Thinking of Godspeed FMIC kit for $350 shipped, supports 500hp.

or this for $380

A blow though MAF is really only used for correcting problems of a VTA BOV and when you run a huge turbo (rotated setup) and the turbo inlet is much, much bigger than your MAF pipe size.Plus tuning for a blow though MAF is no fun.You can't just move it and the ECU is happy.Be careful about buying "no name" stuff. There actually is some R&D that goes into intercoolers.Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

alot of people talk bad about ebay. i bought my fmic kit off ebay for 350 fits perfect and i still have my fog lights. im also running a evolll 16g and its awsome. i made 15whp more than my buddy with a identical set up that is running a bigger top mount. i only have about 100 rpm more lag then him. i would never in my life spend 1000 for a name brand intercooler. go for the 350 godspeed

I can make 20-30whp just by switching dynos. Also their are alot more variables when comparing dyno tunes than just #'s.Ambient temps, altitude, humidity, tuner, supporting mods, dyno type,octane.... Some "no name" products are good deals and some are junk. How do you know how to tell the difference?Might want to read the link I posted.

Are you recirculating or VTA on the bypass valve? Just curious because i have to get a new bov to work with a FMIC. I had an RFL and just sold it (wish i hadn't now) and have a GFB hybrid BOV for the TMIC which i can probably trade though. I wasn't aware you could keep your fogs with the godspeed setup either, so thats a plus.

Thanks dumdum, you've been the biggest help thus far in my decisions. I'll read the link tonight. I am leaning toward the godspeed FMIC kit since a lot of people talk good about it, and it retains the same stock location for the MAF.

Heres the specs on the godspeed, seems to be matched to the turbo pretty well, since the bluch flows 600cfm, and pressure drop is very low (good as from the reading that dumdum posted), would it be a good match?:

GODSPEED TYPE-L INTERCOOLER

max horsepower capacity : 350-400hp
core length: 20"
core height: 9"
core thickness: 2.5"
inlet / outlet size: 2.25"
end to end length: 28"
compress air flow rate: 600cubic feet/min, 350hp max
working pressure: 35-40 psi
pressure drop: 0.2-0.5@15psi, 2-5psi@35psi
material: 100% aluminum
design: bar and plate=high flow
construction: machine cut & stamped, hand welded
finish: polished
net weight: 14 lbs

I am a firm believer of you get what you pay for. I'd go for a name brand intercooler since that is a vital part of the system. Don't go cheap and buying the same thing twice.

am i crazy for thinking bigger, say FP green on the 2.0? Im thinking that surgeline can tune it conservatively until i can get my RA or PPGs installed next year. My combo should support it with the DW 750cc and FMIC. Wondering about the DD aspect of the combo though, like spool, driveability, and upgradability. Remember, i do LOTS of freeway driving to and from work, only a little around town. What do you guys think? meanwhile i'll do more searching on other forums about this. Thanks again. lol im

Edit:

Ah screw it, im going big and keeping the tune conservative for now, FPGreen here i come...

Im nuts I know, i also put a built 466ci big block in my 91 mustang though and a built vette motor in my 96 camaro lol.

It'll spool if you have 93 octane if that's what you mean. Of course, it won't start spooling till probably >3000rpm which leaves you with an incredibly laggy car.

93 octane is all i use here in Ohio, 100 octane is also available right down the street. but still, im at 3000 or more rpms crusing on the freeway which entails 90% of my driving. I understand what your saying though.
