Smile ERZ up-pipe and down-pipe problems

I recently installed an up pipe and down pipe and my car started acting weird. When you crank it up the rpm's jump up real fast then back down so low that the car shuts off. Also, it has started back firing and sometimes runs rough while idling. The car has a little over 55,000 miles. So do you'll think that this is a timing problem or due to our recent modifications?

I have both an uppipe and downpipe installed on my car as well and it runs perfectly. I've never heard of problems with the uppipe/downpipe, so I would look for problems else where. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Unhappy

I also forgot that I found oil in my turbo and the TMIC pipping. I don't know but I do not think that this is good.

where in the turbo? Is your car smoking? Some oil in the TM and intake tract is normal, it's from blowby. If it's outside the intake tract (like going into your DP from your turbo) then you may have turbo oil seal issues.

I would need more info on the other things. LIke a mod list and complete history.

I bought the wrx used 2 months ago. I just started moding the car and I put the up & downpipe on yesterday. Also, I did the 3/16 mod. 30mins after the install I went to get gas and drive around to feel the new power and at the gas station my car shut off when I tried to start it. It has never done that before and it has shut off like that several more times. Also, I heard that a wrx is exposed to run around 13.5 psi but mine only gets up to 10psi in 4th and 5th. All the mods I have is TBE, uppipe, turboxs ic, short ram intake, and 3/16th. Thanks for the help

the intake is messing up your idle AFR's. You need to put your stock airbox back on. You also need to return your boost hoses back to stock. After that i would recommend get a professional tune with some sort of EM.

Sounds like maybe you have a boost leak somewhere. I agree w/ honda, put your stock intake back on, and put the regular T in the hose rather than the 3/16" thing.

As for the popping and backfire, that is normal w/ 2 or 3 cats removed.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I took the 3/16th mod off and the car runs great. I wish I had the stock air box but when I bought the car it already had the short ram intake on it.
