I have been looking for a new car and my two main picks are the WRX and the RSX. I was wondering though about dyno graphs for the WRX that i've seen. They all seem to be really low. I know there is driveline losses but these seem excessive. The accel times seem quick enough though. Is there any reason for this?

AWD has more driveline to lose power with than 2wd.

Yea, I would figure they do, but the dyno graph from APS shows about 45% losses, that seems really high. Not that I really care about what the dyno says, its still a great car.

Also take into account you'll be able to get a lot more power out of a WRX with a lot less effort since it's turbo-charged.

You can completely change the nature of the WRX for less then $2k.

A dyno is not good for showing you what your car can do on the road. They are good for helping you know if your mods have done anything for you.

Yea, thats one of the reasons I like the WRX over the RSX, I had a GSR and it was pretty expensive to get it to do much. The people on the RSX boards sure love to harp on rattling and such in the WRX though. Not that my GSR was anything special when it came to that.

Good point Darkstar, thats the only reason I would use one.

Yeah, I've noticed that the RSX boards like to harp on anything WRX related, seems like they're insecure about their cars. The thing that I see coming up the most is the bragging about the RSX's interior over the WRX, but seriously, if you're going for luxury step up to an Audi or BMW.

BTW: Matt, not sure if you've noticed this, but Subaru owners seem to be a little more mature and open minded then a lot of RSX owners, I'm not saying ALL RSX owners,... but a lot of them seem to be of the high school mentality still.

Well the interior is really nice, but it is also really small. I don't think the people riding in the back would care how nice your dash is when they get a concussion from every little bump. Fights would occasionally erupt in the back of my old integra with 3 people.

I think thats because most of them still are in high school. They really respond well to the subaru trolls. The subaru boards do seem a lot better to me though.

I forget where I read it(road & track or something like that). They compared the WRX wagon and the RSX type S. There conclusion was that the RSX might have a slight atvantage on the track, but they said the WRX was more fun to drive. Also, I've had some fun dogfights with 911's. Granted I'm driving the WRX sedan, but I can't believe a RSX is going to hang with a 911.

Well that comparo is kind of unfair since the Wagon is handicapped by a 18mm rear sway bar and the extra weight in the back. I wonder what they'd say compared to the WRX sedan.

Regardless, I heard that the WRX got Automobile Mags. Car of the Year award. I haven't seen the issue myself,... can anyone confirm?

I'm not knocking the wagon. I'd love to go around smoking people in the wagon. Talk about demoralizing.

so what does a stock WRX put to the wheels?
I was looking at a dyno on Import tuner http://importtuner.com/tech/0304it_ppwrx/ , but they seem to have low numbers, maybe Cali cars has less hp with there emission over there

One thing to notice, the RSX is a more "peaky" type of engine. The WRX has a really flat torque curve (well, at least mine did on the dyno), this makes the car feel faster.

Whatley.

Hey Matt,
I'm not sure if you noticed that APS is an aussie company that measures power in kilowatts!!

One kilowatt is equal to 1.341 horsepower.

well i know is that my WRX whooped up on a RSX type S, and the guy i raced really didnt have much to say! We were at the red light, he started roaring his engine, so i just turned on my hazard lights and yawned at him. The light turned green, and SEE YA!!! i left him at the start, and never saw him again, until the next light. The funny thing is that he wanted to race again. I can't blame him, im the same way when like an SS or a Cobra beats me.

Well that is my story, and i am stick to it.
P.S. maybe the RSX would give like civics or integras a run for there money, but don't mess with a REX.
