Downpipe Question

How important is manufacturer of a downpipe? For example, is there going to be any difference if I go and buy a $100 dp, off ebay, or if I buy a $250 name brand dp?

For example:

Yes, it is important to go with a name brand DP to an extent...more important with DPs versus say UPs. Generally, you'll get higher quality (welds, fitment, material, etc) with a name brand DP. I've heard several people report that their Ebay DPs don't fit quite right and are simply made cheaper.

A good rule of thumb is, you get what you pay for. I don't know much about the Tsudo pipe, but everyone that I've talked to that owns an Invidia pipe likes them.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...

I have heard TSUDO's are basically the worst you can get. I don't personally have any experience, but that is what I have heard.

Ok, thanks guys, I'll go with a good name brand pipe then, I would rather be sure that everything will work perfectly than have s### break on me later on

I have a question? I heard that the 06 wrx does not have a cat in the uppipe. And was wondering if I just put a catback exhaust and a downpipe will I have similer numbers as lets say an 05 with a aftermarket uppipe, catback, downpipe?

Yep, only reason to replace up-pipe is because cat.

Well aftermarket uppipe help with better exhaust flow. Just like an aftermarket catback.

True no cat in the up....not sure about power numbers though...I would guess the 06 WRX would be close if not better than a 05 with only an aftermarket exhaust.

tsudo worked fine for me for an entire year sounded damn good too.. but i dunno id rather just get a helix downpipe.. its dumb to spend twice the cost on cobb or invidia because its "titanium" or has a super thick bell piece to keep in heat.. the cost difference is not worth the performance difference.. i would stick with helix for the downpipe, no need to spend more on anything else.

Are you 100% certain the '06 WRX(non STI) does NOT have a cat in the uppipe?
If that's true then I don't need to stress about how I'd install one or how much it would cost to pay someone.
I could just spend my money on a TBE and tuning.
