PE 1818 is for the drag racers that want street drivability. Ball bearing turbo will make slightly less power then a 1820 but more then a IHI VF22.
.......................is this better then the vf34?

It depends on what you mean by "better". The larger turbos like the 1820 will give you more peak power. The smaller ball-bearing turbos like the VF34 will make power quicker, which is what I like.

Top end is fine for a race car. I drive mine every day, and don't feel like waiting until 4500 rpms to get any boost.

Also with the VF22, you wont get much low-end power as you would with a VF34. In addition, the VF22 would suck in a daily driver car. And the VF34 is better PE 1818 IMO, because you dont have to wait a long time to get that boost.

max's out around...

your pushin' VF34 real hard to get 400HP.... solid at 350HP and probably easy to get around 370HP... but 400HP is pushing your luck with any consistency...

I guess throw it together with a 2.5 or 2.2 stroker, that might do the trick if money is not a problem...

Still, though,,,, 370 HP and about 270WHP is quite plentifull in the REX... I will shortly have the VF30 in and i can't believe the 1st gear pull of TXS stage 3 with the stock turbo and about 17psi.... the VF30 upgrade to stage 4 with injectors and pump also is going to add about another 25-30 WHP and create huge gains in mid and top end power... So that's the way to go in my opinion... VF30 or VF34, will make same power output, 34 better due to ball bearing and if money not object, get 34... My opinion not worth the $200 extra for ball bearings, but some will tell you otherwise. Just a personal opinion thing... Don't go with high boost super turbo... waiting till 4500 rpm will suck unless you launch from 4500 RPM every time,,, and you will wait so long for power that the car will truly be much slower in the daily driver long run.... VF34 is full boost around 3300-3500rpm... only way i know of to get better power sooner is to go 2.5 or 2.2,,, which is huge engine internal work and $$$$.
