i already did the plugs and i discovered last night, it only does it when the boost is between 10 - 15 psi, then the CEL starts flashing, when i put the AP on and i hammer on it it loses connection with the ECU. im gettin fed up with this shit.

oh and one more question, if i was to get my injectors rebiult to like 650cc and had stock turbo and just ran that until i got the monel for turbo, how bad would that be for the car.

It wouldn't be that bad...you'd just need to tune for it, if possible. That and you'd have a severe overhead for the stocker. Uh, I think i'd worry about fixing this problem first though.

You could do that but would still need a tune for the new injectors. Just a heads up for that.

Damn you Turmic, you beat me to it, lol.

This thread is a little dated, but I'm experiencing a similar problem with my stock 2002 WRX. The engine loses power sometimes when I'm shifting from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. If I'm gentle on the gas, it doesn't usually bog down, but if I'm trying to shoot a gap and the RPMs climb quickly, it almost always cuts out. In some cases, it just flat out stalls. Similarly, when I'm decelerating rapidly, like dropping to 2nd to take a hard corner, it will lose power. The CEL doesn't come on though.

The local mechanic says I should check the wires, plugs and coil, another says the fuel filter. I don't really want to spend the money for either of them to come up empty handed. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

oasissux: I saw you said your car was stock, but do you have any mods at all? If the answer is no, are you up to date on your basic maintenance?

Nope, no engine mods whatsoever. Up to date on basic maintenance as far as I know. Car is pushing 220k KMs. It gets serviced regularly. My mech isn't quite sure, but he's not a Subaru mech. Didn't have the greatest experience at the dealer, so I haven't been back except for recall issues. Found another forum where someone described almost the identical problem and he traced it back to the fuel filter in the gas tank. he cleaned the sock thoroughly and that seemed to solve the problem. I guess that's what I'll try first and we'll see how it goes.

I had a problem where it seemed like i had a random redline. If I pushed it hard, it would show up in the RPM range sooner. Found out it was a boost leak.

try cleaning the fuel injectors, maybe you got some bad gas, happened to me and my car was doing the exact same thing, when i was running OTS maps AP stage 2 06 rex i was throwing CEL's like crazy, until i got tuned... i also replaced the spark plugs, that all fixed the performance issues but i was still throwin CEL's...
