There wouldn't be any bad effects of a 3.5" catback. You won't get any power from the catback upgrade but if you spend $285 on a Helix DP, you will have a nice Turboback exhaust.

If you do, make sure the shop can do mandrel bends, which maintains the same inner diameter all the way through the bend. Most muffler shops can only crush bend, which does just what it sounds.

Custom catbacks are sweet for people lookin for low budget exhaust. Your friends 80 dollar catback is most likely not mandrel bent. it is usually more expensive than that. If it is though, ask him where he got it done and go there, thats a smokin deal.

For 80 bucks, they're most likely making it out of cheap materials. If you're tryin to save money, i would look on ebay. You can get an exhaust that's mandrel bent and made of stainless steel for around $200. Its not name brand but i think the quality would be alot better than the custom made catback.
