crank pulley

what is the thought on crank pullies? are these things worth it? do they really give you 10-15hp, or are they just a good way to blow your motor or your oil pump?

You don't need them. A lightweight pulley (same size as factory) may help slightly in acceleration, but will make drivability and idle much worse. Underdrive pullies are bad news all the way around. That money is better spent elsewhere.

they sometimes also make the ecu think thier is knock when thier really isnt.. i know my friend had a perrin pully on his wrx and his utec would think the engine was knocking when it really was just pully.. also they have been known to mess up other things inside the motor.. not worth all the trouble for just faster response...

all depending on which brand it is, some will cause a false knock reading due to crankshaft harmonics reverberating through the block....

yes, it will allow your engine to rev more freely, but you lose low speed smoothness (that is the entire reason for having a large inertial weight....it balances out the power strokes of the engine, and smoothes it...)

do a light pulley, and a fidanzia flywheel....it wont stay running!

i dont reccomend it for most street cars, for good reason.
