I know im not cosmo, but the answer is no. The HKS is not a bellmouth and still blocks the wastegate side. Essentially, it just eliminates the cat. If you want a good, cheap downpipe, get a Helix.

Funny, I know you're not Cosmo too....

And what he said is right. It's better than the stock downpipe, but that's it.

If you want power, get a Helix.

Have you ever thought of adding a section on the website like:

Cosmo's Corner or Ask Cosmo?

Could be very helpful (and maybe too much work for you?)...

What's wrong with the HKS down-pipe? I have one, no problems and I notice a huge difference from stock... sure it blocks the wastegate, but with a stock turbo, this is a non-issue.

It doesn't hurt that I only paid $130 Cdn for mine though (used).

If you think you gained power with that, try something w/ a DW or bellmouth .

Actually, that's a big issue. The main issue, to be exact. Freeing up the exhaust flow coming from the wastegate is where the power is made.

i tried to keep myself from posting in this thread since it was addressed to someone else but i can't hold myself back any more.

the BIGGEST, i repeat BIGGEST restriction in the stock DP and MP sections are the CATS, not the blank plate design. Go gut a stocker and dyno it and compare it to a HKS, you'll realize a VERY large % (probably around 80-90%) of the gains from just removing the cats. THe other 8-18% (approx of course) will come from larger diameter piping and smoother bends. THe other 2% will be from WG flow gas interception.

is the HKS the greatest design for a internal wastegate turbo (EWG is a different story altogether)? No it is not. ARe you going to pick up 10 WHP from a BM over a HKS? No my friend you will not, not on the stock turbo. As someone else said, with the stocker turbo you'll be fine. As the turbos get bigger, that's a different story too because as you flow MORE air, the flow of that air becomes even more important.
