Hey Guys, I have recently purchased a COBB SS Catback exhaust, minus the down pipe. I got it used from a friend, who only had it for 10K miles and just wanted a blue tip exhaust system. Anyways, I need a quality downpipe and have noticed that some downpipes with the cat, are significantly cheaper than a COBB, Invidia etc. I have tried to read every forum relating to this, yet have not found an answer. Are there problems running a different brand Downpipe, to a COBB exhaust system? For example Godspeed cat down pipe.
Any DP designed to fit your year and model should work. Cobb does a great job producing parts that work with OEM flanges and locations. that means as long as the DP you select would fit in place of the OEM unit you should be fine. Just keep in mind that you do get what you pay for. If you found it on ebay for $100 is probably not a good idea.
Im not sure if its the same in Utah but in California even catted down-pipes are NOT CARB COMPLIANT. You might want to double check your local regulations before installing a DP with your new catback exhaust.
Ive seen lots of working combinations from reputable brand names, Invidia+Maddad Invidia + apex international, Godspeed + Ebay catbacks The definition of "working" sometimes means bending a forcing connections and thats never a good idea. If you stick to invidia and Cobb they should fit great and you dont have to worry about poor quality ebay aprts.
