Well I just talked to the guy on cobb to ask him so more questions and my dad also asked him a bunch of more in debpt detailed questions that I really wasn't thinkn bout and after words we were both very satisfied and decided to order it.
Yeah well according to the guy on the site the phone he said the boost will be raised by about 3 pounds or w/e and as far as hp/torque we just say numbers as a generalization in truth you will gain 15% hp 20% torque he said no more or less then a 2% variance so at the least I should be seeing close to a 30 hp gain. So i am stoked as you can imagine.
lol yah, I also just watched this video True life im a street racer watched the episode and it was really weird how my attitude transfered, Like the first maybe 20 minutes of the show i was like WOW i wanna street race and all this then when I saw like how ppl die in accidents and like all those things I started changing my mind and by the end of the show I completely no longer wanted to street race but did how ever wanted to get into the legal street racing I am actually trying to find some places that I can go to in the near future that are local once I get some more power going into my car any how. out of curiosity can you bet money at the legal race tracks?
Be aware that COBB has specifics on their tunes..... If the map states you must have a FP18GTD05...... you HAVE to go w/that...... That pissed me off, Forced Performance doesn't even sell their TD0518G anymore, they started making the TD06. Just warning you ahead of time. Don't get me wrong, they are good people and their product kicks @$$, just limited.
oh I thought that meant that the program isn't compatible with certain stock cars...is he saying that it wasn't compatible with a modification that he had made?
He was saying the base maps are made using certain parts. If you don't get the exact parts the map will not be quite as good/safe as it should be. For the most part you can find the parts they recommend. If you want a part not in a base map you will need a protune to maximize your gains. It's nothing to really worry about until you get deeper into the modifications, above stage 2. At that point a real tune would be better anyways.
So...This isn't going to like blow up my car that is completly stock using the stage 1 93 octane? or damage it in any way? Sorry i am a complete novice at this stuff so im kinda clueless :P i was just underneath the impression that the base maps were made for stock cars in those years...So it wouldn't damage my car at all or negatively effect it in any way right?

Base maps are exactly what they mean. Its a base for you to build on. They are tuned on the safe side so they won't damage your vehicle. You will be totally fine running a stage 1 without a tune. But in the future as you go up in mods it is safer to get tuned. That will help you get everything out of your mods and still keep it running good.

Reason: not an engineer and I can't spell either
I was just going to bring up that K&N filter again, another reason why you might want to re think about getting one of those at least on a turbo charged engine is that the they turbo can actually suck some of the oil out of the filter into the turbo charger, i have been a diesel mechanic for 4 years now and this has been a prob. with some of the people putting these in there duramax and cummins and so on, dry filters are where its at i think.
i have just a catback and bov on my 03 wrx. more for sound then performance. (Cant get another ticket or i wont drive for a veryy long time) i was going to take it to the local shop for a $100 tune. would it better for me to try and find a used cobb instead or before? and from what im getting this stage 1 map on the cobb is ok for stock wrxs?. also 18, broke, and clueless. so alllllll tips helpful. thanks
