Well a few problems, 1 no laptop , 2 no idea what a tactrix cable is hence i assume I dont have one of those lol!...i Mean from what I have been hearing the cobb access port is a very good product and I dont think any one who buys it is really unsatisfied but in the same respect I don't want to buy it and since its generic and SOME people get 33 horse power i only get like 10 ### to me 10 horse power does not =700 dollars lol... So I mean idk do you think it is worth buying one of those cables and borrowing some ones laptop or something to do this? or do you think that the ap will give just about as good results with alot less hassel?
Let me put it like this; Im older, I have a excellent job and $700 wasn't that big of a deal to me if the product totally blew a$$. I would have just sold it at a loss of a couple hundred bucks. I don't know if you are a student or your age or what your status is, but I know that when I was 18-21 and going to school I was broke. $700 would have killed me.
The tactrix cable just allows you to plug into your cars ECU via USB/PC. Its around $95 or so. A Dom tune will cost you $60. It might be worth it to borrow a laptop if you are able to use it for an extended period of time. You also could probably find a used laptop for $200-$300 just for your car, buy a cable and Dom tune and will still be under the cost of a new AP. You could also check the classified over on NASIOC for a used Cobb AP.
What do you want from your car overall? What are you goals?
Let me also add that Cobb is an excellent company that puts out quality products. You will not have that big of a difference in gains car to car, like you mentioned, 10hp on one, and 33hp on another. Maybe a few hp difference car to car. Cobb tunes tend to run a bit richer as to not lean out the car. No big deal.

Well I am 18, so yeah im broke lol...I do deliveries for a place they provide a car I make like 6 a hour with no taxs since its off the books and I get to keep tips and I can only work 3 nights a week there so i am only averaging if its a good week 140 a week...Generally speaking its more along 110 or something...I have the money to purchase the Cobb AP I just wasn't sure if it was the BEST choice I do know they are known for making excellent products but I wasn't sure if I could get a domtune for cheaper and if it would be better or even if it would be more exspensive if it t would be better... I mean even though I dont make money to me I'd rather spend more money on a product that is alot better so I wasn't sure if spending more money on a dom tune or w/e the case may be would be worth it if I would be seeing significantly better results. As for my goals my goals are to get to around 300 horse power at the crank so my plans were to get a program get a up and down pipe and a exhaust and get the stage 2 cobb map once I did those things. Since I will be recieving graduation money as well as birthday money very shortly I figured those things weren't to out of grasp as I could probably have everything I wanted for my car by this upcoming September.
dreamevil i am also 18........so i know where ## coming from...about that money haha..i just spent about $950 on used 750's (injectors) ebay big 16g turbo and a cheap ebay header.....that sent me back alot lol good thing i know some people that will give me a tune 4 free.....i hope my RA GEARS WILL HOLD UP lol..but yea any ways just catch up on ## rading, read tons of stuffff!!!!!!!!get as much info as u can
Dreamevil - Domtune is definitely cheaper. $60!! Its just a bit more involved as far as emailing info and data logging and what not. I like the ease of the AP, plug and play. I also like the little added quarks and loggers on the AP. I would look for a used one honestly. You can always find a tuner at a later date that can go back and tweak the Cobb file to fit your car perfectly. Its nice also because you don't have to pay $600 for another dyno tune every time you add a mod.

Yeah thats what I have been trying to do lately. I got the contact info of that Domtuners guy I am going to try to talk to him for a bit if possilbe and then talk to the guys at cobb.
im glad u like my set up......stagger lol, id say if you dont want hassel get the Cobb ap if you can get the cable ,lap top, and data log, more power 2 ya i was thinking about going that way because i did not wanna dish out 700 but i found out my brothers friend he tunes wrx so he does it 4 free.....but if u can handle it by data loging it and send it to dom go 4 it!
I agree. Cobb = easy. Sometimes its worth the money to not have to do the extra work. Some people enjoy the work. I just don't have as much time to play shop as I used to. Wife, kid and work don't permit so much.
glad you didnt take offense to my sarcasm Joe. Cheers!

Well I can't seem to get a hold of dom...How ever I did speak with a guy from cobb tech support or w/e..He said to me that the horse power variances from car to car are extremely minimal that I wouldn't see more then approx a 5 horse power difference. The guy also went on to tell me all about the features the ap has and that in the future if I do get modifications whether it be just what I need to get the stage 2 map or if its other mods they can make me a custom map specifically designed for my car and what ever mods I did.
stagger no offense taken..haha i felt some sarcasm haha but i luv it........id get the ap if i was u because you said you wanna go stage 2 soon....soo if you had the cobb u can just flash to stage 2(when you get dp, uppipe) instead of dealing with the cable and all of that fun stuff that ya have to do with dom again..........
