They're pretty much just a noise mod.....In a way, they actually hinder performance....IF you get a 100% atmosphere dump, they actually cause some overfueling and make your car run rich when you let off the gas to shift. If you go this route, my best suggestion is to go with atleast a catless uppipe. The overfueling causes some backfiring and if this happens in the cat before the turbo, and the cat decides to self destruct, you will destroy your turbo's turbine blades....But that will take a long time, nothing that will happen overnight. I have the HKS SSQV BOV full atmosphere dump and I'll live with the little bit of backfiring when I shift, and the ECU eventually learns not to overfuel so much....So it works out....

Interesting. My computer has yet to learn not to overfuel. Maybe that catless uppipe with cause it to quite. I feel like a redneck with a big shivy truck when it backfires into the cat.

What about a unichip? Can you "tell" the unichip you have a BOV so it can use it to better performance?

I guess what I'm saying is I want sound and performance too. Is that going to happen? Or is it just a pipe dream?

You will be getting one or the other...not both.

Actually, from what I have read, the ideal BOV will split the blow off. Half to atmosphere and half to the recirculation. This helps prevent overfueling and helps keep the turbo spinning. The only one that I have seen like this is the GFB unit. Lowest price I have found is $185 @ http://www.subaruwrxparts.com/

BOV

Does a BOV improve performance (eg spool up)? Or is it just for sound?
