borla catback xr1

i was researching a cat back to add to a helix DP, and i wanted something that looked stock and was 3 inchs and not too expensive either. on borla's site the single tip exhaust for the wrx has 2.5 inch piping, but the sti specific xr1 version has 3 inch piping. can i bolt on the sti specific 3 inch version if i have a 3 inch DP?

this would be for an 05 wrx so it has to be a single tip exhaust, so i cant do a hush.

I have an 05 and i'm running the borla hush system. If you think about it, the borla hush is actually a stealthier system because all WRXs previous to 05 had the dual tip exhaust, even the 04 which is identical in body style. I have an UP and TBE and have driven directly in front of cops and they didn't even look twice.

as i said

and that there is the point exactly. I do not want the borla hush because it is a double tip design, and the factory exhaust on my car is a single tip. If i still had an 02 like i used to than it would be a different story.

What biggsean is saying i think is that no one will notice because the 04 & 05 are very similar.

You might not like the sound of the single tip. It doesn't have the resonator that the twin tip "hush" system has. It is much louder, and at idle it thumps and shakes the car. It's kind of cool, but it's also kind of annoying. It does look almost identical to the stock 05 exhaust but anyone that hears it will not think it's stock. It's also a little too much on the highway also. I may be getting older but I had to buy the "hush" and sell my single tip on ebay.

As far as 3 inch vs. 2.5 inch piping, I highly doubt that it will make a difference.
