I put my catless d/p on first. The engine note became a little louder just with that. But when I got the Borla Hush on, I really noticed it. I drove around for several days and would turn the radio down as I went through the gears = sounded so sweet!
A web search will give you some decibel comparisons between various exhausts. I mean, my idea of "loud" might be different than yours. The Hush is louder than stock and has a much deeper note. It's also bearable on the highway and doesn't make you feel like you're riding in a torture chamber at a constant 70mph.
So louder, but not as loud as my RX7 race car... with open exhaust. !Laugh!
i don't know who came up with "hush" part of it, but i do know it wasn't borla. If you look or call borla, NONE of their exhasuts are branded "hush". Their exhausts are about middle of the road in term of dB's, not overly loud, but you'll know they're there.
If you're looking for something quiet, but not stock, i would recommend the STi muffler.
The only differences between the borla exhausts besides the tip is that the "hush" has a resonator that reduces some of the noise (its kind of a small glass pack) and produces more focused low tones. All highs are eliminated. Not to worry though, the resonator is high flow and not restrictive so it really doesn't reduce hp. Technically if you added a resonator to the single tip, it will be the same as the "hush". My "hush" comes in on Tuesday... I'll make a post on my opinions once it is installed. Hope this helps.
"Hush" is an overstatement. I have the Borla "Hush", and it sounds nice, day and night difference from stock. My neighbor says he notices when I pull up in the parking lot. Deep tone with great sound at WOT. No other mods either. I'm pretty sure once I add a downpipe/uppipe, it will sound much louder.
Borla "hush" is a great product. And I recommend it. High quality material too!
