Question boost selinoid?

what does the boost selinoid do? for example if you hooked the hose from the waist gate and tied it into the compressor would the waist gate open sooner? now if you tied the three hoses together from the waist gate to the compressor hose to the intake hose wouldnt let the waist gate fully open? what size hose should run from the boost selinoid to the tee? my wrx has a hose from the boost selinoid then a reducer and a smaller hose into the tee. when i run the car it hits 8psi in 1st and 2nd then 131/2in third then it slowly hits 15 maybe cheap boost gauge jumping on bumps in road..any help will be great i tried the dealer but we couldnt find the hose or size maybe we are blind

the boost control solenoid limits the amount of boost the turbo develops by the ecu's duty cycle. At a predetermined pressure it open's to not overboost. If you're stock, you should see 13.7 psi. Are you using engine managment of any sort?
At any rate, it is normal to see less pressure in lower gears. Your problem souds normal. When are you seeing the full max boost hit in each gear?

no engine management. im putting the car back to stock form i have the top mount intercooler. but i need to get the stock air box and bov<---which is a hard part to find may go with greddy rs or perrin recirculating valve. but the hoses on the boost selinoid where messed with and the hose to the intake is definitly stock but to the turbo is not. iv got the correct hoses for the tee and pill but not sure of the rest? and let me correct myself i got 8psi in 1st, 15 in 2nd and 3rd havent did a pull in forth this was a test run i cut out as soon as i hit 3rd. maybe its the front mount making the higher boost? or the injen short ram. ive read how bad this is without em but it is what it is and the car hasnt been ran hard since ive owend it was a project put on hold.. it hits full boost around 4500 5000 i beleive didnt get a real good look with the sun on the gauge.
