Boost Problem

When i installed my boost gauge, i went to test it out and it says im only hitting 10lbs of boost, im spiking and holding 10 in every gear but first, which is doing rougly 8-9psi. My mods are..

Injen CAI, Hyperflow TMIC, TurboXS Turboback exhaust, UNTUNED

I bought the car used with all these parts on it, i only put in the gauges so far, now i thought i put in the boost gauge wrong but everyone who has looked at it says it should be ok and that the problem is your not boosting enough. What is the problem?

Some people tell me its because of my TMIC but i dont have a stock one to put on to test that out, but i really dont think thats the problem. Someone also told me it could be a restrictor pill that is missing between the wastegate and the boost solenoid, if it this where could i buy a restrictor pill and at what size would it need to be, also if anyone has a pic of where it goes i would appreciate it alot.

Bingo to the restrictor pill. Go to Subaru and get the hose w/ the pill in it.

Without the pill he would just boost til the turbo couldn't boost anymore...at least that's how my car acted.

Without the restrictor you would most likely be running ~8psi only not any more.
If you are running 10psi and or spiking (TBE) a bit above that you probably are losing a bit from the intercooler/exhaust combo.

I imagine its gotta be tough for the stock turbo to keep full/stock boost with a larger intercooler (not sure what kind of pressure drops the TXS has) and a full TBE.

you DO NOT want the restrictor pill. it came in my car and it was impossible to make boost with it. We had to drill it out just to get it make enough boost. Just get it tuned.

Nick I think you are referring to if the hose was removed, not the pill. You DO want the restrictor pill becasue the factory boost control solenoid is expecting it to be there, and when it is removed, the FBCS will think it is getting more boost than it would w/ the restrictor pill.

Oh yeah you most diff DO WANT the pill....just bought another one today.... $1.90 .....there are other ways to control boost....but if you want the ECU or UTEC or EM to control it....just take the pill

If you take the red pill, you will wake up and everything will be back to normal, your car will still not be making any boost. If you take the blue, Ill show you how far your turbo goes.
