Boost Level

Hi guys,

I'm from Singapore and are new to this forum hope i can get some helps here.

Just collected my MY05 Base REX two months ago. I would like to keep the car as stock as Singapore's regulation are pretty strict. However, I still would like to get some additional torque.

By the way, i only managed to get 0.76 boost (measured by Blitx DTT-X) and would like to push to 1bar and maintain it, how should l go about it?

Your input will be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Derrick

What gear, what RPM and what throttle position did you read that number? Stock boost should be around 13.5 psi which is about .95 bar.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The Blitz meter just reflected this number (0.76) after I gunned the down to about 5K at 2nd gear. As for the throttle position, could you be able to advise me.

Hi WRX555,

Thank you very much. Please pardon my ignorance, what is actuator? Can the SBC do the same job or they are the same?

Anybody have any imput on srbcs

I was wondering if anyone has any imput on these wastegate actuators (SRBCS). This site http://210.15.220.239/html/subaru/in..._info_005.html Claims this mod to be totaly safe, provided a good tune. I have noticed how my car's power drops off especially after 4 or 5 grand. I have also watched how my boost guage bounces up and down after these rpm's. I guess i am just wondering if anyone thinks that this is a good investment, or if my money would be beter spent elsewhere. How safe is it to do this. Thanks in advance for any imput

Hi derrick!

The actuator is connected on the wastegate side of the turbo.
It keeps the wastegate shut so that the turbo can build boost.
A boost controller will basically do the same thing but it is addressing the issue
in a different manner.

Cool Yeah...

Sometimes the boost on a stock car will be different from someone elses. My stock boost was 1.1 bar, which is 16 psi. All the cars are different from the factory even though they are supposed to be the same.

Quality control is a great thing.

16 psi on a stock car. That sounds high to me, what gauge did you read it off of?

Hello WRX555,

Thanks for your kind reply.

My current ride (MY05 REX) read 0.76 kPa (measured by Blitz DTT-X and i presumed it will also reas as 0.76bar) and if I wants to boost say at 1 or 1.1bar without the uppipe but with the aid of EBC any harm to the TD04 charger?

Your feed back will be greatly appreciated before I invest in both the EBC and uppipe.

Thank you.

hey there,

1 bar = 1*10^5 Pa

you said your DTT read 0.76 kPa which equals 760 Pa (have to use same units for a conversion). set up a basic ratio problem:

1 bar = 1*10^5Pa
------- -------------
X 760 Pa

Solve for X, you get 0.00076 bar

http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm -> if you wanna convert it online.

Eh, so anyway, 0.00076 bar is weak. my volvo 'pushes' 10 psi which converts to 68.94 kPa...By the way, 1 bar = 14.5ish psi = 99.97 kPa.

dunno, i think you should check your DTT.

No he is definately not running .00076 bar man. That is like less than .01 psi. .76 kPa is equal to bar, so you are at about 11 psi. That is lower than it probably should be, stock should be around .9. What TPS were you at, what gear, and what RPM did you get this from>?

His math is correct, someone is giving us the wrong units.

Jspec's math is wrong. He took pascals rather than kilopascals. 1 kilopascal is equal to one bar.

I pushed near 5-6k at 2nd and the reader show 0.76 after my first service at 1600km. BTW, what is the optimum rpm to change?
