Learning about EBC stuff now. You can run without one. You'll only get wastegate pressure. 10psi. Should throw a code if I remember correctly, going to double check though.

With the solinoid disconnected your ECU wont be able to control when the wastegate opens. That means the you are relying on the spring inside the waste-gate to regulate the pressure. It limits your maximum boost to the strength of the spring and gives you no control over boost pressure.

For my money I wouldn't just trust the wastegate spring, You can get a solid BCS for around a hundred bucks, if it keeps the engine happy thats worth the money for me.

That's correct. Tuning is absolutely required for a 3 port. If you don't want to go that route just pick a stocker up from nasioc. You can find them all day and for cheap.

I had one til today, just sold it for less than $20. Normal price on a used one shouldn't be more than $40.
Good luck

Fidrat is more helpful than not
So,when I go to my tuner I can install my new Grimmspeed BCS in the parking lot (they charge $50) and just don't plug it in to drive it into the bay? I'm told don't drive it one inch with it hooked up without a tune. Is this true?

All right, where is the distributor cap? I need to find the #1 plug wire to hook up my SUN machine.

You won't hit hardly an oz of boost pulling in the door. I'm calling bullshit on that one.
