after talking with a subaru dealership tey have said it is much better for the engine if you drive it properly ie: not 3000rom each gear, to actually give it abit, because the engine frees up alot better and the turbo spools alot quicker and easier also, they actually had to WRX's come in for their 10,000km ( sorry no miles in australia ) services, one had been driven fairly hard ( not redlining or anything like that each gear) and the other had been babiued alot ( not going over 3500rpm each gear for the first 10,000 km) and they said it is remarkable how much better the first drives because the engine can spool alot quicker and revs out alot better and smoother than the one that had been babied, so yeah, thats my input
on a different note: i gotta say i feel sorry for you guys over in the states, you really do get ripped off as far as cars go, i mean, you dont get the "good" version of any cars, you dont get the integra Type R (which i was gonna buy before i bought my WRX) you dont get the recaro seats in the WRX, you dont alot of the extras that we get s standard over here, if your keen on seeing the version we get here in Australia go to www.subaru.com.au and check out the WRX!!!
enough from me

A friend of mine back in the day who built very fast cars on a consistent basis gave me some words of wisdom regarding the whole "babying the car during the break-in period":

"If you drive it like a pu$$y, it's going to run like one"

He drove his cars hard (but not rediculously so) right from the start, and his rides would always seem to be stronger than others in town with similar mods. Fluke? Dunno...but it's always worked for me too.

scrat is right thats how im breaking in my engine.. im at almost 700 miles now... i've been running it like a wrx should be driven. if yo urun your car like a pu.ssy its gonna drive like a pu.ssy. dont worry about your engine if somethings gonna break your under warrenty.. better have it break now then after your warrentys up right? i mean if anythings gonna go wrong from running it hard it'd happen eventually

Run it as hard as you can for 100 miles the FIRST DAY... Let it sit over night, then run it hard the rest of the week. Drive normally from then on (tests prove this is best for setting the rings..... Don't go Syn till 6k +
