aFe intake??? wtf???

So i was reading through a magazine yesterday and i saw this add for aFe's intake for the STi, and i saw that they advertise a ridiculous power gain, and i remembered all my researchig about how an intake doesn't add much, if any power, and i was like, what the hell is this BS They somehow claim a 15hp 32torque gain!!!! At first i thought, well, that's because i've been looking up WRXs intakes, but not STi's, but then i thought, well since the STi is the more-performance model, it shouldn't have a more restrictive stock intake box, if at all a different one, so what's up with them claiming that much power gain??? Anyone know how they did it, or do you thnik they are just lying their heads off?

how to fudge numbers so your part makes gobs of power:

1) Take an un-tuned car
2) dyno it
3) put your part on
4) dyno tune the car and Measure the gain over stock (most of it's from the tuning itself and would be there if it were still stock, but who cares?)
5) convert the gain into "flywheel hp" with some large multiplier

Guess what, I just tightened a screw and added 17hp!*

*based on their logic

Thats what i was thinking, plus they probably threw a couple bags of ice over the intake manifold. Anything and everything that will fake a few more hp...

also, the tune doesn't have to be something they'd actually want to put on their own car. As long as it runs enough to put down the number, who cares?

LOL, nice Mosc. Have you ever read the claim on some of K&Ns products? Complete BS. Just go with what has been tested and tried by someone that doesnt work for them and see what they have to say.

Yeah, same with the Pulstar Pulse Plugs, they calim 10whp gain on the 350z, but ModifiedMag tested them on a G35, and gained like 2whp... Can't necessarily trust the manufacturers much anymore

I thought the text was even funnier. What the #### does "the wheels are tight" mean? She's ready? OMG even TFATF wasn't that bad.

Are your wheels "tight" then too?

Although I guess that could just mean the lugs are screwed in enough...

sorry i maybe be abit noob here.but what is this brand 'afe" .is it a popular brand there?
it looks somewhat similar to the apexi short ram i am using.
but i coupled it with the zerosports belly section and also the hks kansai carbon fibre heat shield.
i wouldnt call this kind of air intake mod giving you instant power.but coupled with other realistic mods it does make a difference.
