i would advise against it.......alot of work
however, as shown by me having a wagon....i like different.
Engine:
there are several options, but one of the better bets would be to get a STi EJ20 from japan (ie, a V4-6 engine, before they used the EJ25)
will be cheaper, and easier to hook stuff up and get running right, since it is a non-OBDII engine (the V4 is, i dont recall which year they changed the versions at the moment...)
get harness, ecu and such too...your 1.8 ECU will laugh at you....
Tranny:
again, if possible, get a whole clip from an importer of a JDM STi. you should get transmission, engine, harness, ECU, pedals, shifter (if ya lucky) and such.
Drivetrain:
i highly reccomend installing a rear diff in the car, and hooking it up to work with the WRX tranny.
you will need to find an AWD legacy of the same year and get the parts (rear cradle, differential, driveshaft, axles, hubs, struts, brakes, etc....) and swap them in.
now, iirc, you will need to get a rear diff that has the same gear ratio of the WRX...and if possible, you can get it out of the STi car.
now ,you can do it that way, or you can get a wrecked WRX from the states, and mod it too. either will be a serious undertaking. but, good luck, and keep us informed, and post some pics!
