I will admit that I didn't read the whole post, but I'm going to say that a 400+whp Daily Driver is not going to be reliable.. I speak from expierience here. I spared no expense on my build and it still breaks ALL THE TIME.. It spends more time tore apart then it spends on the road and it's always hella expensive to fix..

$50,000 for a 400whp DD lmfao oh god is everything going to be gold plated, stock internals will hold the 400whp my friends 409whp wrx that he has driven over a year now runs great, and its his only car he drives it all year round and we live in iowa, its all about the tuning of the car that will make or break you, and his 5speed tranny is stock we just run shockproof gear oil in it and change it twice a year and thats it. and he has not even close to 6 grand in aftermarket mods done to that car, he has injectors fuel rails external wastegate, gt35r and a big top mount with cobb ap and protune for the motor and act flywheel with exedy clutch.

I suppose the car was free? Also, it never broke down, he did all the labor himself, and the dyno tune didn't cost him a thing

no he races it in the 1/8 mile, you dont have to buy the most $$ parts either, just casue they cost the most doesnt mean they are the best parts. and no the car has not broken down either, i just laugh inside when someone says 400hp cost 50 grand my 517cu in blown big block alcohol fuel injected drag car engine didnt even cost that and we dyno the engine at 1750 hp.

Doesn't seem like that you know too much about Subies, imo, go for about 280whp-300whp and upgrade others like springs(no coilover for you before you get used to the car), tires, swaybars, SS brakelines, brakepads, rotors, short throw, definitely ECU and so on, you don't want go too crazy on high horsepower,remember.....SUBARU IS ALL ABOUT CORNERS!

BTW, watch your tranny just like everyone says

I have an associate with a 400 whp 2004 STI, he brings it out on the weekends, sometimes. It's not a trailer queen, he says it's just to uncomfortable to drive, between the multi-plate clutch and the uber-stiff suspension. I had intented on doing what you are talking about, changed my mind though. I bought my '02 bugeye in '03 started tuning it when I returned from Iraq in early '05. I am at "Stage 3" right now, I don't have dyno #s or 1/4 times because it is my daily driver and I simply can not afford to be without a car for the time it takes to get the parts in and repair the transmission when I dump out 2nd gear on the track. Want some advice? BUY AN 2004 STI, the transmission and brakes alone well compensate for the price difference, do the math for yourself on say, wllwood or stoptech brakes and a 6 spd STI tranny for this bugeye you intend to buy.
