18g overkill on stock 205 ?

I've been glancing around yet again ( damn late nights ) ... and i'm split between the EVO 16 and the 18 G for the 2.0l . Now from what i understand, a few lucky EVO 16s can make 300 awhp ( aroundish my goal of ~ 300 ) .... but more often then naught they make around 275 ( as the mustang dyno flys ). As for the 18G... i hear it gets up to 350-400 awhp ( unless i read incorrectly ). The problem i'm having is that i'll have stock interals and stock trans with about 85000 miles on both. Both of which can handle 300 awhp but nothing really much more than that ( thats my understanding... feel free to set me straight ) . So assuming that i'll have supporting mods... and taking into account stock internals and stock trans with 85K on them, what turbo upgrade would be the better route to getting me 300awhp in a safe reliable manner ?

The stock internals on the engine should be able to handle 300 awhp as long as you don't constantly beat on it. I am just not sure how long your transmission will last especially since it is an 02 and they have the weakest transmissions. So you should make sure you have money to rebuild the transmission after you do the turbo upgrade. As far as the turbos are concerned they are both nice, it's a tough choice.

As for as those turbos are concerned, the 16g will be close to maxed out at those hp levels. Well, high in it's efficiency range anyways.

The 18g on the other hand will be lower in it's range.

It will take less boost to get the same amount of power with the 18g as opposed to the 16g though. So, if you were to go farther with the engine (internals, etc..) you wouldn't necessarily have to upgrade turbos as soon with the 18g, as you would with the 16g.

I've owned a 16g powered car before, it was a riot. With proper tuning/supporting mods you can see those goals that you have set. The 16g will spool up quicker as well.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...

With a good tune and some even better driving, I could see you with a high 12 to low 13's with it. But that's with a low 60 and great shifts.

I had this dilema a while back... For a little more i'd go with the EVOIII16g... you'll be in the 300 awd range with a protune.. and supporting mods.
