07 sti exhaust on an 05 WRX?

Hello all. I've been searching but didn't fin the answer to this.
I have a 2005 WRX wagon and was planning on just doing a stage 1 COBB Accessport upgrade. A friend gave me the headers and mid pipe with cat from his 2007 WRX Sti that he no longer has. He thought they might fit my 05 WRX and perhaps enable me to go with the stage 2 flash from COBB.
Would this be all I need?
Thanks!

Most people wait until they're pretty serious into modding their cars before installing aftermarket headers. If the headers are from your friend's stock STi, they're probably pretty similar to the ones you already have and they're pretty useless. If they're aftermarket equal length, you might be able to sell them for a few bucks, but otherwise, you could probably just take them to a scrap yard and get a few bucks for recycling the metal.

The mid pipe is the pipe that connects the end of the downpipe to the "axle back" portion of the cat back... so, no, you can't use a Stage 2 map with just a mid pipe - especially if it's just the stock pipe from an STi. You would need an aftermarket downpipe (with or without a catalytic converter) and any combination of mid pipe + axle back (a.k.a. cat back) - even stock - to install a Stage 2 map and benefit from it.

If you have the AP, you can reflash to a Stage 1 map at any point until you get an aftermarket downpipe.

The headers in your car and the ones from the stock STi are COMPLETELY IDENTICAL!

^ Correct. The only year exhaust manifolds that will not work at 06-07 WRX manifolds... For some reason they're slightly different.

To make it more clear:

02-05 WRX
All USDM STi's aka 04-10
08-10 WRX
All use the same manifolds

06-07 WRX have their own unique manifolds.

Thanks guys, i appreciate the info.
Sounds like to do stage 2 I gotta get the whole Cobb kit. I'll likely just do the stage 1 and upgrade down the road.

I used exhaust manifolds in the first sentence, therefore the rest of my post references the exhaust manifolds mentioned in the first sentence.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks, I didn't know the WRX and STi headers were exactly the same - I figured they were at least close since the rest of the exhaust is pretty similar. I also didn't know about the unique 06/07 exhaust manifolds. Any idea what makes them different?

Not sure exactly, I just know they changed them up a bit. They may actually fit if you replace the whole setup with say an 04 exhaust manifold layout, but I'm not positive on that. Pretty sure if you just use one piece, say the crosspipe, from an 04 on your 06 it won't fit, however.

Obviously the starting and ending points are the same with all the turbo EJ's, so I believe it's just a slight difference in the pipes themselves, not where they go.

You can see they're slightly different but pretty similar.
