04 wrx leaky head gasket

I just bought a silver 2004 wrx and the head gasket has a slow leak and a leaky axle seal. Im glad I am under warranty to get it fixed for free but is this a common problem with the 04's? I grew up around cars so I noticed this right away but I got it at a good price (16500) and it only has 32k on it

its not common for the head gasket to leak with that little of miles on the car.

Subaru also has a service bulletin out for the 04 wrx with the head gasket malfunction. I read that the factory didnt tighten the head down enough so on some they leak. Im going to try to find it.

White, sweet smelling smoke from the exhaust is one indicator of a blown head gasket.

If your oil looks like a chocolatey vanilla milkshake it means the same thing.

I defected to an evo :)
Evo is gone :(
Now I got nothing.

I read somewhere before I bought the car that the 04's have a tendency to leak at the back drivers side of the motor so I got a flashlight and looked and sure enough there was a little bit of oil coming from the gasket.

relax...he was talking about steelwires post which is no longer on there. steelwire was coping and pasting peoples posts and then providing links to the shit that he sells. if you look closly at ballers post youll see the links at the bottom of the quote and it was quoted by steelwire not 04silvrwrx.

Sneaky bastard that steelwire. I have a handle on him now. 04silvrwrx, nothing was meant toward you bro. It was meant toward the copy/paste spammer steelwire.

Now back to the thread at hand... Leaky head gaskets, ready, GO!
