My turbo on my WRX isn't building boost. What does that mean? Does it mean it's time for a new turbo? Is there anyway to get to get that problem fixed (even though I plan on buying a VF39 turbo soon)?
Look under your heat shield for the wastegate actuator arm and make sure it is attached. The C-clip that holds it on may be missing. This happened to me here...http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f72/low-boost-no-reason-39138/ I know it's a long thread so read the first few posts of this thread to see if that is what it sounds like than skip to page 4 post #47. Be careful with those vacuum lines in that area they may be brittle with age. Don't even touch them if you can help it. I hope this helps.
I think your information should help. I'll look into it when I get a chance. So if it is the c clip, how do I go about finding it? I've tried looking it up, but I couldn't find it.
Ok,look at the heat shield. That cylinder shaped thing in front of it is your wastegate actuator. The rod that comes out of it and goes under the shield is what you are shooting for. Follow it with your finger if you can. See if you can wiggle it up and down. You shouldn't be able to. To be sure you'll have to remove the shield. Use plenty of PB blaster as these bolts for the shield break off easily. Expect it. The rod should be attached to an arm with a C-clip. don't let it fool you. Mine popped off and on at will creating the illusion that it is OK for a while until it pops off again. http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f72/low-boost-no-reason-39138/ Page2 post #27 put me on the right track. Thank you psinuse. There is more info in this thread that might help you on your hunt.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
