02 wrx boost gauge help

i have a 02 wrx and i installed a boost gauge today. i have it tapped off the bov line. started up fine. let it sit for a minute. revved it a few times and i bogged once then fine. so i took it for a drive. when i ran the pedal hard the gauge only read 5-6 lbs of boost. i pulled over checked the lines. appears all secure. ran it back home and still same thing. took off good but only read max of 6 lbs of boost. tomorrow i am going to cut off the zip ties securing the T fitting and use regular metal clamps

any ideas why its doing this? i will baby it to work and back tomorrow just for safety sake. i didnt hear any vac leak or anything

thanks in advance

stock boost is approx 13psi correct?

13-15, everybody seems to have a different answer. 14.5 I think is accurate if I remember correctly

Mechanical or electrical gauge? But could be several things. I would start small, making sure all lines are secure, no cracks or kinks. Clean intake, clean MAF also.

1-Did you have probs like this b4 the install?
2-Electrical or mechanical?
3-You probably have some leaks if you hooked it up correctly.

Stock is 13-14

Edit: wow, I started this reply before I called Randy. wtf

i have a second issue. i tapped off the harness for the clock. my clock was broke so i just used the power for the boost gauge. now i have no interior lights, or instrument lighting. how do i need to hook up the boost gauge and correctly wire that plug so i have everything that works.
