wrx or sti

Hi guys
I've been lurking around the site for a good 2 months now and finally registered. I drive a 2000 dodge dakota 2 wheel drive for the past 10 years. Since january ive been looking at getting a new subaru, just getting tired of my truck and it sucks in the snow. One of my friends has a 03 wrx and that i drove about 4 years ago and loved it so now that i have a good job i want to get a subaru. Ive had my eye set on getting a sti from the get go but now im not sure what to get. I basicly do daily driving no racing but i do like to get from 0-60 as fast as possible.

I drive 1 mile to work both ways some in town driving and on the weekend i drive about 2 hour on the highway.

Buying either one is not a problem, I just dont what to spend 10k extra on a car that i wont feel a difference between the two. What would you guys buy?

not sure yet. I did read that you should tune them as the stock tune runs lean from the factory

For the most part, yes.

If you aren't going to mod the car very much (past a DP and a tune with a few other little parts) I'd say go with a WRX.... If you do more than that, the STi will be the better bet.

well the car i was looking at was a premium with cloth seats and wasnt going to be on the lot in chicago till the 9th. the dealership offered a leather upgrade for 1100$ So we sat down and did a search and found a limited with leather and the same options and a nav unit for grand more then the premium with leather. They are calling tomorrow to see if its sold and if not that will be my new car, if it is then im ordering one tomorrow.

quick question does the 2012 have a cat before and after the turbo? I asked the salesmen and he didnt know. said it was the first time hes ever been asked that in the 6 years hes been selling subaru's

anyway looking at a limited dark grey wrx with
nav
all weather mats
mirror with home link
short shift

list is 31,400 and hoping to talk them down to the 28-29k range

Shouldn't have a cat pre-turbo like the older years. 02-05 did.

What is invoice on the car. Call your bank/location where you are getting the loan. They will tell you.

Well the local dealership has been screwing around with me all week trying to bring in a wrx. Yesterday i got online and filled out a car request lookup and was hammered with emails by subaru dealers in my local area. I got an email from grandsubaru in chicago with an actual price for a wrx limited with no options for $26,995. I emailed Bill back this morning with options for the car and he quoted me the same price with my options..... so as of today i ordered my subaru, he sid it should be here in 4-6 weeks

wrx 4-door limited
Dark gray metallic
All weather mats
auto dim mirror with homelink
short throw shifter

MSRP 30,549
Invoice 28,604
sale price 26,995 clean and clear no extra fees

Selling price 26,995.00
doc fee 161.39
30day plate 50.00
sales tax 1700.40 @ 6.25%

grand total $28,906.79 out the door

I still have to pay $204.05 on sales tax .75% indiana has a 7% sales tax when i get my plates. All in all very happy with grandsubaru so far, was the easiest time buying a car. We emailed back and forth 3 times and i was set to buy the car.

I also called the local dealer and asked them to eather match or beat the price and the guy just laughed at me and said he could'nt even come close to that price.

Glad it worked out and good job doing your research. Sounds like you got a good price.

Ok guys

So I just got my email from Subaru saying my car would be in on the week of 5-18. But here is my problem, I ordered the car from Chicago which is 120 miles from where I live. Normaly I would take the toll road there and back, would this be advised to do with a brand new car?
