I have read about wrx's on this Webiste ALOT and I am about to get one for my self. I am currently 15 at the age and turning 16 next year . Hear is the thing tho my parents might help me out to get my first car but I already have a job at my uncles place. I get paid fairly and have saved up some money. I am thinking about putting down about 10G - 15G and try to pay around 250 - 300 a Month. Dont know for sure yet. My bro who already has a car will be teaching me how to drive a car Manully. I really want a Wrx because I have been looking forward one since I was 13. I studied specs and everything and trying to save all the money as I can. So please tell me if this might workout or not. Or should I get another car But rememba tho my heart is on the Wrx. Well any answers will help.
Dude get the car. I am 17 and just got mine. At first i was hesitant but the first day i walked onto the dealership is the the day i walked away with one. I put 5000 down and got my payments at $346.42 a month. So you should be able to lower your payments if you put 15g down. Or you cold put less down and use some of that extra cash to start doing mods to it!Thumbs Up Well that is all that i have to say.
Dude definately get the WRX. I'm 18 and just got rid of a 2001 BMW 330i for a 2004 Java Black WRX. I thought that the BMW was amazing but the rex just kills it in every performance aspect. Its definately woth every dollar! Enjoy it man.
Thanks for all the reply's. I have decided to get the 04 Wrx soon as I can. I am going to learn how to drive M/T from my bro and I will be in shape for it. I just cant wait. Thanks alot for your help. !Thumbs Up
you guys must have very different finance rules over in the states compared to here in Australia!!! over here there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY a 16-20 year old would get finance on a car worth that much!!!
I paid $35,000AUS straight up on my 2004 WRX ( 2003 here in oz ) and i got the last $10,000AUS on finance, and they wanted to see pay slips, bank records to see that i could save, they interrogated every aspect of my financial situation to see if it would be viable or me to get finance for that very small amount of money!!!
geez i wish i lived over there, i wouldnt have gotten the WRX i would have gotten finance for a ferrari or something!!!
Actually, our rules for financing are probably not too different than yours in Australia . . . he will proabably dow hat I did when I bought my Trans Am when I was 17. My parents got a loan in their name, and I paid it off. You can get a much better finance rate that way.
Dude I'm 38 and I got me a WRX, if a WRX is what you really want get it. With 10 - 15G down, your payments depending on the APR should around 190-250 bucks a month. Goodluck and I hope you get the car that you want.
personally i think it is a bit amazing that a 16 year old could buy such an expensive car. I agree that a 16 year old should have a car, but i dont see how it is feasable to spend that much money on a car. and its your first car. it has been my experience that people who are new to driving ruin their first car that they drive... but, this could all be that when I was 16 there was no chance in hell that i could afford any sort of car... mabye its out of jealousy.
i agree with BigFroGod, if i would have gotten a WRX when i was 16 i probably wouldn't even be alive. I had a junked up ford ranger and it stayed against the guard rail and in the ditch half the time. But if i would have been given the chance to have gotten a WRX then i would have jumped on it.
I hear that WRX requires 91 octane. ABOUT HOW MUCH do ya'll pay for gas every time u fill up your whole tank. How much is it for a gallon usually. Also would the insurance be high for a guy who was the primary driver is 65 and the secondary driver was 16?? About how much??? thanks
Thanks for all the replys so far. I am gonna get the Wrx no matter what because I am working at the moment and on top of that I drive my brothers Mustang. He is teaching me how to shift and I drive around the community. Its going good so far. But thanks for the replys
i agree with wrxdude i threw down 10g for a downpayment and im finacing the other 12g for 3 years ar 2.9arp or something. payments are 402 a month and the loan after 3 years is about 600bucks.. if you can throw down 10-15 and get the 0.0 apr for 2 years and save yourself $600. your payments will be 518 or something i dont remember what they said when i was gonna do it. thats only if you can handle it.. its alotta money. if he has extra cash he should start modding while hes paying for it. just dont miss a payment
I really think that 16 year olds who are still learning to drive a stick should rethink purchasing a WRX. This car is too fast and too powerful for a new driver. Buy a car to learn to drive in, drive it for a few years and then when you are more experienced move up to the WRX. Driving fast is fun, but the fun is over the second you wreck your car and get your license taken away, or end up dead. Also don't just think about the Car payment, think about the insurance. I have over ten years driving and a perfect record and my insurance is about $150.00 per month. If you do decide to buy the car, respect its power and be safe.
im 16 and my wrx is my first car, i learned how to drive a stick on this car and it really isnt that bad. i mean this is a fast car but when your first learning its important to drive it as if it was a slow car, just dont go above 3500rmp. also, just be responable with the car and understand that you are driving a $20000 car so if you crash it, you still owe that 20000 and youll have no more wrx. so i say get the car and drive it like its a geo metro until you get better at shifting
If i were you, I'd start saving for a college education and not a wrx. I'm just finishing up college with a 60k debt. having a car is nice, but the smart thing to do would be to look at the big picture. make something out of yourself, and then get a car.
I understand about college education and everything but having a car isnt going to mess it up. I just want to drive a car back and forth to college and sometimes race when I am coming back. I will drive safe as I can and I know for a fact I am not going to be a crazy driver on the street now. When you are driving a car life gets risky because you never know when you might get hit ( God Forbid ). I will be safe and hopefully enjoy my new car. Thanks again for the replys.

To the younger ones, wait to get a WRX till you have more driving experiance. This car has a fair amount of power and if you are not used to it, it can get you into some trouble. Besides, any one handing the keys of a WRX with a manual transmission to a kid with almost no seat time with a manual is begging for trouble.

Yea yo do got a point there but tell me this tho why am I then driving my brothers Manual Stang for? There are 2 type of people who are 16 in my opinon. One is that he is a crazy A"" MOTHER"""""" and driving crazy on the streets. 2nd which is who is a responsible witha nice car and DONT want to get killed. I only have one life and I dont want to throw it away on the street. As I was also saying on my last post that when you are driving a car life gets risky becayse you never know when you might get hit. I am not blaming you for what you said and you did have some good points tho but still have a car isnt going to change me at all.
DRIVE A NEON Manual Tranny first!! That's what I did and now I have a WRX and am LOVING life!! The WRX is so much better in every aspect that it ever could be. But would I have grinded my gearbox to shreds trying to learn to drive a manual on it?
YES
Am I better off now that I know how to drive this kind of car with an insane amount of power?
YES
Believe me, the WRX is great, but learning on such a great car would be a bad mistake I believe. Another reason to drive a cheaper M/T car would be so you could notice the AMAZING increase in handling, power, acceleration, braking, cornering, etc....
By the time you learn to drive a manual real well, you could get a 2004 used STI for the same price! (Look on the bright side!)
I understand the points you are trying to make tho. But I am driving my brothers Manual Stang which is more Hp then a Wrx stock to stock. That had alot of power and he lets me drive it every other day basically. I go around the community about 2 times or more. But I know what yall trying to say and I know yall have good points. But I am drivng a 280 Hp stock and when i decrese down to 227 it will be much eaiser for me. And speaking for the STI I dont know about that yet because I am going to have to pay for the insurance and my dad will pay for the car. Thanks again and keep on posting !Thumbs Up
maybe i can clarify something for you. your bro's 280hp mustang weighs a lot more than the wrx, so the h.p. is not really an issue. my first car was a camaro, and i was all like you (im not going to drive crazy blah blah). Then i found out it had power (not too much, but anyway) and i drove it that way. secondly, i dont see how you justify not being a crazy driver, then you say you want to race on the way to and from college....racing isnt something done at safe speeds. i also think you cannot truly appreciate the wrx until you've driven around in a different car. i guess its up to you and your parents if you get a wrx, but let me tell you, that insurance is going to suck hard unless you are really buddy buddy with them. good luck with your car, and hopefully you will drive safe as you say you will.
-don't embarass your older bro and get a car that will smoke his
Thanks for the all the post so far. Got a question which is how much do you pay for your insurance for your WRX? And how much you pay for your Rex? One more thing if you put a down payment please tell me so I can get a idea of what I will be paying soon.
Thanks
Mike
