Will the Accessport clear the check engine light once I change to the Stage 2 map?

Installing my catless downpipe today. It finally arrived, My 03 WRX will be completely catless with no muffler. Will the Accessport clear the check engine light once I change to the stage 2 91 octane tune?

It can, but you have to tell it what codes to not illuminate the light for.

On your AP there is a clear codes section, I think its 2 from the top on the root menu. Use the "EXIT" button till you cant go back any further then there is a "check engine" icon. thats where you can clear codes and prevent the system from lighting indicators for thrown codes. That said that wont make the codes go away, your car just wont bother you with the lights.

If it comes time to smog you will still need to handle those codes before passing smog.

Flashing the ECU resets it. Assuming it's a cat ineff error, yes it will clear it.

FWIW, don't use Cobb's free maps. They aren't particularly good. Get a custom tune ASAP.

I figured I could do that. Wasn't to sure if it would pop up again after resetting the ECU?

Will I be okay to use the stage 2 map till I go and get a ProTune? My buddy has been running a fully catless exhaust on his 04 while running the stage 2 map for over a year now with no problems.

the earlier models are way more forgiving than the new ones. your 03 should be fine until you take it to your tuner but don't go tracking it hard until its tuned proper : )

Sweet, thank you for the quick feedback. I'm pretty excited for the install and how she's going to sound. I'll post up a video after everything is done later today. Thanks again for the help.

Not sure about on the AP, but with open source you can go into the rom and turn off the codes, when you hook up a obdII code reader they won't appear. So you can pass smog and not be bothered with it.

It went great. Installed the downpipe and then flashed the stage 2 tune. No check engine light on the start up and hasn't appeared yet.

Here's what she sounds like now
