If you had $15,000 what would you do to your nearly stock Rex? The reason I ask is because I am new to the Rex and I am not sure what I should do. I have an '02 with stock turbo and TMIC. It has a turbo back exhaust and a greddy BOV and I am pretty sure that is it. Any opinion is welcome. Thanks in advance for your input.
if i had 15 grand I would never put it into a car, I would use it for a down payment on a house or put it into a roth IRA or something, Dont be retarded, putting 15 grand into a car that you drive every day just dosent make sense to me.

TRUE DAT !
Might just be the banker in me but I would be putting that money to good use .... If you got your millions, fine go ahead and build the car .... until then ... If it was me I'd be investing the funds into the Asian Markets! Definatly keep it out of the US markets but INVEST IT ! lol
Trust and believe I have money put back into other accounts. I don't need finance advice, i need advice about my car.
a little more about what i want to do is i am wanting to get into road racing next summer or maybe the summer after. so with that said once again any advice is welcome.
i dont know how your money situation is but i would assume that you are smart guy/gal and would not dump 15k into a car, but lets say you are a little behind schedule. DO NOT SPEND 15K on in mods. if you do want to spend some of it then spend maybe 5k and put the rest away. with 5k you can have a pretty decent setup.
Start by looking into some suspension mods. Sways, endinks, nice tires and wheels. Maybe look into a driving school or something to get to know your car better. Not saying you cant drive, but if you want to race it, its the best way to learn. Maybe even look into some nice coilovers if you have the money for it.
well if you insist what i would do is buy a fully bulit indestructable 2.5 engine, rebuild your tranny w/ppg gears, decide on a larger turbo that when tune has huge torque down low. and the i would get every suspension mod possible,(sway bars&links, coilover's, better mounts/bushing for every stock part and lastly some lightweight/ strong wheels, performance brake setup.

I consider myself as a pretty good driver but I still have been looking into school. I've been checking things out at www.brr-scca.org. there's some good stuff on there.
Thats exactly what Im looking into also, of course when I come back to the states that is. You can never know to much or stop learning. Good luck with your decison(s).

total price? $40,000. Seriously, come back down to earth here. 15k is not unlimited funds. I'm not going to chastise you about your finances, the rest of you aught to back off on that. It's a free country. Anyway, it's also not near enough to "fully" mod a car like koolpaul is suggesting either.
2.5L shortblock (keep WRX heads)
PPG gears 1-4 (new grippier clutch and flywheel)
GT30R turbo externally gated with plumbing
TXS FMIC, SPT intake
235/45/17 yokohama neovas on 17x8 rims
front/rear sways with endlinks
high performance break pads
well first off i wouldent suggest modding your wrx for racing unless you have another daily driver. thats just me, though.
as for starting to get into racing its all about seat time. and not on the road seat time. if you want to be competative you need to get your basic skills squared away. i never liked teh SCCA events but you should weigh that with other peoples opinions. i would suggest an actuall racing school like skip barber, as aposed to classes offered by a racing club. there are WAY more people in this world who THINK they can drive, and would love to tell you all about it then you think.
It sounds like you have a little disposable income so, if it where me, i would do a skip barber 3 day and a driving school (either first, dosent matter) then follow it up with a 2 day racing school and a lapping day or two. then i would enter my STOCK car of choice (probably your rex) into a club race. see how you do. you might come to the conclusion that this is the most amazing fun ever! and you start spending all your disposable income on a race car and start racing on the weekends. or you might go back and sign up for a racing series like the skip barber racing series and drive someone elses open wheel formula car around tracks and just pay for damage. or you might come back to modding the rex and racing it. in either case, you will have a much better "big picture" perspective on racing.
but dont be like every other driving enthusiast that thinks they have any amount of skill out of the box. mods (especially suspension) are wastes of money. i wouldent even consider suspension mods untill i broke 350/400 wheel hp.
