What will void warranty?

I'm looking to do a few things and was wondering if an exhaust and a short shifter will void the warranty? Am I stuck with only Subaru parts from the dealer?

Almost everything you put on the car aftermarket the dealer will try to squeeze out of doing the warranty work. They have to prove what you did as neglect or abuse to have the warranty work not covered. So, no you are not limited.... it's just safer to utilize SPT and such.

you can bring in a totally stock car and be refused warranty work due to "abuse". I find that putting minor bolt ons really doesn't change that much. If they think you broke it, they'll just say it was your mods and if you complain that they're not being realistic, they'll change to "abuse".

Don't count on your warranty, that's my advise. It's great for the radio and the air conditioner but getting them to actually fix transmissions for example is near impossible.

you have to look at it from the dealers perspective, though. for them, doing warranty work is at a drastically discounted price. doing a large job like a transmission they make far less money then an out of warranty job. so yeah, they are going to do what they can to make more money. you will need to stand your ground.

I agree NN, BUT...... It's not like these Subaru dealerships are all that busy. They make phatt cars..... Hardly ever in the shop.
