I am new to Subaru. I came a cross several threads with descriptions include terms like Sti V7, Sti V8 or Sti V9. My question is what is the difference in version 7, 8 or 9 in the sti and what years are they associated to?
Yes they are different version. There are other STIs other than the 04-05 and 06-07 that came to the states. Unfortunately I cant tell you which one is which. Try either google or wikepedia. Very good places to start.
they're JDM engine models of the EJ20. The EJ20 we got in the states is similar to the EJ20v6 which was used in 1998-2001 in Japan (years approx out of my ass). The EJ25 in the USDM 06+ wrx and the USDM STi doesn't line up well with any JDM model.
The v7 was the "bugeye" years in japan and the v8 was the "blobeye" years in japan. I lost track of JDM engine lines at that point so I dun know what a v9 corresponds to but it's a safe bet it was the pig nose years.
