Why was a new motor needed at 10k miles?

^I think he is saying that the mods began when it was at that mileage.

To the Op. unless you know the owner/previous owner...I would let somebody else buy it...Remember that in most cases, its better to have built than bought.
maybe there is a nightmare in that motor/maybe not. Would you like to be the one who finds out at the cost of 22k?

......just sayin

So, the 5 point harness makes me think the original owner raced the car. Kind of makes me wonder why he did all the motor work for the power levels he is at or he stripped/sold other parts off the car. So, its a hard question I would have for this car. Knowing what I know...he probably sold a bigger Turbo off the car and probably put that car through its paces. Could be a gem in the rough if he didn't damage something first before selling it or it could be a nightmare in sheep's clothing. Are you willing to find out? Is the question. I love the newer STIs but they're not bullet proof to bad mods or tunes. Though it does sound like its been protuned...which is a good thing. Much more conversation is needed to see why this guy is selling his car.
