Hi guys. I am a dsmer but i am very interested in the sti world, and i was wondering which sti is best for tuning. Like i know that after 1995 some of the 2g dsms became harder to work on. i have found a 2007 wrx sti that looks really promising but i need to know if i should go for it or hold out for a better year.
I agree with Jave, and Mosc both. THe real noticable difference is in the exterior looks of the different years. If it is in your price range and looks to be in good shape than go for it. Best of luck to you.

Haha, jave. They only thing I heard that is heresay about STIs is that the 07s gears are taller and slightly less sporty suspension and that the 08s are even less stiff and the gears are higher yet. But, have heard that both the 07s and 08s run lean and are more based off the Legacy platform turbo wise.
Just know for a 2007 they come from the factory with crappy tunes on them. If you're able to tune yourself and have a laptop get a tactrix cable and use the opensource tuning method....that would be the 1st thing to do.
An STI nd an S2000 are 2 completely different animals you are talking about. Any STI as long as properly maintained should be a decent platform for you to build off of.

Some small differences to note. The 04 and maybe 05 have a different tourque split than the 06-07. The wheel stud spacing is different after 04. The 07 have a revised turbo with a more efficient wastegate design to prevent boost creep (VF43).
