Want a wrx but not sure

Need some advice I'm looking for something new to drive to work that I can half way enjoy
My main questions are how many miles are the wrx's good for and how dependable are they. I found a 02 with 77k on it that has been owned by a older lady since she bought it new. And how are the stock ones on fuel. I'm beond lost when it comes to anything but a v8 but 15mpg is getting out of hand. I drive about 130 miles a day

You can easily get 100k+ out of one if you keep up with maintenance and don't beat it too much. Keep in mind that WRX 5MTs are known to break if you drive the car too hard, especially at above-stock power levels.

You have to use premium fuel (91 or 93), but gas mileage should be in the mid 20's at least. My modified WRX still gets high teens to low 20's on average.

I think they're perfect daily drivers because they're fast in the summer and capable in the winter.

Also, keep in mind that every 30k is a semi-major maintenance milestone where many wear items get replaced: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/subaru...000Maintenance

Make sure all 60k maintenance was performed and you'll be all set until 90k. All four tires must be replaced at the same time, or be within 2/32" of each other and be the exact same size, brand, and model so use that as a bargaining chip since that will set you back several hundred bucks if they need to be replaced. It will also be due for a timing belt change around 100k.

I'd like to know what your definition of old is?....All the troubles I had with mine were my own doing. I take very good care of my car, but having modified it beyond what the factory intended and then not paying attention was my downfall. As man show said just take care of it and it will take care of you.

These cars indeed do last a while, if you treat them right. I had an 02 wrx with 150k miles and on the same clutch it came with, and it ran like a champ. Just don't be launching at every green light and redlining every shift and you'll be fine

If you have intentions of modding it, be aware that it likely won't be dependable. If you're leaving it stock, have at it.

A 02 with only 77k i don't care what care your looking for that's good ahah. I picked up my 08 last april and it had 78K on it and she is running beautifully. I am just about to get up to the 100k manitnace and still has tons of power. I would say get it but that's just me, if i had the money id also have another Subie as a project car .

Dude, go for it...the gas for someone who doesn't beat the shit out of it every gear is not bad at all for an AWD, and there's no greater feeling of accomplishment then when someone in the passenger seat says holy shit to your take offs. And my car is completely stock and ive never failed to have that happen to me. Economy is probably middle 20's for in town, 28 on the highway. They dont have the prettiest interiors the 02's which is what i have especially the green dash lights.... but hey...they dont make dash changing lights for the hell of it It's rare to find a SUBE that hasn't been beat and run down. With a good one you can go for 200k i bet.
