Want to get an Intercooler

I would like to get an Intercooler, front mount, in a few months. I now have the TBE, a Cobb AP, and an Intake by TurboXS. I want a FMIC that I dont have to manke any changes for. I read that with some you have get a smaller battery and some you have take out the fron support... Yeah I just want one that will fit in there. Also I read that with some you have to put a BOV on it. Is there any out there that you can just slide in and go..... I dont mind the cost of it, Just that I dont want to have to get all kind of other things to go with it..... Thanks....L8R

Do you eventually plan on getting a larger turbo? If not, a TMIC will be more than enough.

a FMIC on a stock turbo is a very bad idea.

Also, all FMICs will require some cutting of plastic and many remove your fog lights.

Yeah I planned on going larger on the turbo. I wa thinking a 20g or 18g somewhere around that market. I jus didnt know if I should get that at the same time. I heard that it was bad on the 2.0 but the 2.5 was ok... Just something that I heard. There is some FMIC that do not require you to have to cut anything... Any more thoughts....Thanks

Name one and you win a cookie. It would have to be pathetically small (like smaller than stock) to fit in the tiny amount of room that is there without cutting that black piece of plastic in the middle of the bumper. Seriously why ask questions if you are just going to correct ppl who answer you?

2.5L puts out more exhaust gas so it can spool a bigger turbo. That's why you hear people saying 2.0L should get a smaller turbo than the 2.5L WRXs. An 18G or 20G are fine choices. Obviously bigger makes more power and adds more lag. How much power vs spool you want is up to you. Personally I like the TD05-18G for the 2.5L WRX's.

Get the 18g.

The APS DR525, while retaining the bumper beam and fog lights, still requires cutting off some bits, both metal and plastic. Go to their website for installation details.

I still think the APS SR375 or TurboXS top mount are fine with an 18g. Just a personal preference.

Well now everyone has got me thining that I should not get the FMIC unless I get the larger turbo. I looked on Ebay and found a good price and all with a TMIC just incase I was just to go ahead and get that. Then save up and get the FMIC and Turbo at the same time. With that said, would I have to get a upgrade to the fuel system at the same time... I plan on all this anyway but I just need to know if all needs to be done at the same time..Thanks

You can upgrade your fuel system anytime you want, but you only need to increase your fuel injection once you get a larger turbo. You can do Turbo, IC, Fuel Pump/injectors all at the same time and tune for them in one shot. If you can't wait do your supporting mods 1st.

Not to belittle you in anyway. But to me it sounds like you really need to do some research before you start. While you have made the wise choice to upgrade your turbo to a 20g or 18g, to me it sounds like you are less informed on the rest of the setup.

I suggest that you do some research and investigating what other people are doing before you dive into this.

What are you going to use the car for? AutoX, Track, Daily Driver?
Are you set with Engine Management yet?
I know you addressed it, but have you looked at Transmission upgrades?
Do you have the tools or experience to complete these mods?
You may also want to speak with a Tuner so they can help you map out your plan.

Just a few things to keep in mind. Good luck.

Pfft, please that is a line of crap, you just throw everything on at once and the car will learn how to tune itself, man don't you guys know anything.....
In all seriousness the above statement does have some really good points. Look where you want to go with the car, plan ahead because if you don't it will come back to bite you in the butt.
