i just picked up a new 06' wrx 4 months ago and im ready to start my whole upgrade process! i want to kick everything off with a turbo back system BUT i want it to not only provide a nice horsepower gain but i do NOT want it to sound like a monster when its idling in the driveway! i know obviousely it will sound a lot diffrent from stock i just to want it to be to crazy... any ideas? thanks
hey whats up i'm from Ct as well. This is my first post on here , i am new to subaru's as well, other than working on them at my work. I personally am looking toward the same route as well which is makes power but on the quiter side. Anyways from what i've read and my knowledge of cars. I would suggest a full 3 in. The borla hush catback w/ 3in adapter would be a good choice mated with a single catted helix downpipe is my suggestion. there a number of ways to go as there are many quality exhaust companys selling aftermarket subaru porducts. it all depends on your preference in terms of sound and also passing emissions.
i just installed a stromung 3" single tip 3" catback. It sounds great and it is also very quite. i'm very pleased with the stromung. it is the best sounding exhaust that i've heard on a subie so far. From the back of the car it looks pretty close to the stock 05 muffler. the tip is smaller that the stock tip, and it's not loud at all.
yea I'm thinking about going toward that borla hush system. it seems to be pretty good as well as not to loud. nothings better than a deep rumble just as long as its not crazy loud when I'm driving around the neighborhood
who makes that exhaust with the angled muffler look? I'm sure multiple companies make similar systems but i would love that look with out the sound? as well as horsepower
Theres always the stealthback by Turboxs. That would be the ultimate sleeper exhaust. But, then you will still have the stock muffler which is a bit of a restriction. It would be something to consider though. The only real downside would be the fact that it has to be all Turboxs parts. Which is actually good I suppose, just expensive. New idea that just popped into my head: a stealthback with an STI rear section. Flows better than stock, looks stock, sounds near stock.
Could do a cobb dp with a race cat to an SPT exhaust. Then when you need to do warranty work you can just drop the Cobb dp and leave teh SPT catback up in there since it is actually a factory option, 3inch exhaust. Decently quiet to.

I am in the same position with my 06 and am planning to run a catless Invidia downpipe. I've had several recommend the borla hush but also had another person highly recommend the blitz nur touring cat back with our without silencer. Does anyone have this or heard this catback, and if so how does it sound? I definitely like the look of it over the hush..

Would the turboxs stealthback work with the SPT exhaust?

i have the blitz nur spec touring on my 06. not too stealth ### of the huge tip, but it is pretty quiet besides WOT. i was looking for something a tad bit louder, but it sounds pretty damn good.
