TD04 Rubuild kit needed.

Ok i just grabbed a used TD04 for $40 bucks and it has no shaft play that i can tell. Im trying to find a good rebuild kit right now just to be safe. and then once i swap it out im going to rebuild mine out of my wrx. so any help on a good kit would be great.

No one rebuilds these. Once you do you have to send it out to be balanced, its not worth it. They are cheap and you can get low mileage ones for $150.

I know, and there are rebuild kits out there as well, i'm saying most don't bother to. For what it costs to have blouch rebuild it, you can buy several TD04's, might as well just have them do the 19T upgrade.

To have them rebuild it your looking at 400+ that includes the 19t upgrade. For that price you can buy a vf series turbo and be happier with the results

I'm a fan of rebuilding things and would even consider a turbo, but a TD04 is not an upgrade for a WRX.

However, a TD05 is an upgrade. I'd get one of those and rebuild it.

You can find rebuild kits on ebay. Im not sure how well they may or may not hold up though. My understanding is as long as you mark everythings location and position you can keep it in balance. There are some good how to videos on YouTube.

Unless you get the 19T or 16g and HL upgrades, then it is a pretty good upgrade. Just its ability to hold boost in the higher RPM is a huge boon.

I have the stock TD04 from my 07 WRX sitting on a shelf in my basement. I was thinking about turning it into a lamp or something.
