Subaru 2016 WRX Modding

Currently in the middle of installing AEM Water methanol injection and charge pipe.
I have few questions where to tap for boost ? and 12V source,
and I accidentally cross thread my turbo hole while installing the charge pipe?
any suggestions?
thank you.

The wires you need to tap should be clearly labeled. If your talking about the actual boost line as in the vac hose then you connect that with a T to the high pressure side of your intake path. Anywhere on your charge pipe where you have an existing nipple should be fine to T off. I dont know if your kit comes with the T but they are easy finds at most automotive hardware stores.

The 12v arm switch is a low voltage relay trigger that allows current to flow from the battery terminals to your pump. If you use a tap kit or an adda fuse for your 12V to your pump you will likley burn out your fuses because the pump draws more amprege than most add a fuse kits. The pump should be powered directly through the harness connected tot he battery, The arm switch 12v can either be a physical switch on an add a fuse or connected to a 12v accessory line so it is running whenever the car is.

The "boost safe" is not used for stock ECUs, if you have a haltech for example you can use it as an analog input to tell the ECU to drop into a limp home map when you run low on meth in your tank. If i remember correctly you can also apply it to an aftermarket boost controller to vent pressure in the event that your tank runs dry.

If your not comfortable with vehicle wiring or ECU tuning I would reccommend having your tuner take a look at the system setup and check its opperation before you go out and try to make additional power. Whne your ECU expects higher octane equivilant fuel and the system is malfunctioning it can cause problems with your engine.

hope that helps

Thank you for your help,
I wouldn't probably make that happen "run low on meth."
After this installation, I'm doing etune from freektune.
All I have to do is tap in to the nipple of the blow off valve? My kit came with T fitting but it's too small though.
The 12v source, some tap in to windshield wiper,
but some recommend to tap in to 12v ignition..
I'm not really sure how to tap in though for the 12v source,
I'm still searching how to do it right

So 2 things,

Tap is kind of an evil word in the automotive electronics world. A tap is essentially a dirty splice. In most circles a tap means a vampric connector( think teeth like a vampire biting through the insulation of a wire and making an electrical connection)

My alternative for a vampire tap is an add a fuse. they look like this https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....YL._SY300_.jpg. They replace one of your fuses in your fuse box and give you an additional fused 12v output. Looking in your fusebox you likley want a switched or accessory device. Stereos make a good starting point as do heated seats and yes windshield wipers if your in the under hood fise box. Because you will need a 12v accessory near the control box ( which should be in the cabin to keep it dry ) you should consider one of the fuses in the driver side dash, If you only want the system running when the car is runing I would use either the seat heater fuse or the stereo fuse.

As for the vacuum line I would not use the line from your Bypass valve because it is not a pure vacuum/ boost line. That line is intercepted by a boost controller or boost control solenoid or might be in the future as you mod. I would T off of the charge pipe because that will give the meth controller an accurate reading of the boost your engine is currently experiencing rather than the boost that the bypass valve is seeing.

When using an add a fuse make sure you replace the stock fuse or another fuse with teh stock value in the add a fuse unit to protect the equipment from electrical damage.

I am responding to your other thread here. I hope this helps.

What size of aem nozzle do you use for 2016 WRX, modded cobb j pipe non resonated, cobb air intake, aem charge pipe?

- Nozzle size is based on your intended use case. if you intend to use it as a daily driver and your tuner will be tuning it for reliability then i would use the small nozzle. If your tuner is pushing the turbo hard and you are up against a knock threshold then step up to the bigger nozzle. If you are already running an E85 tune or a flex fuel setup with a piggyback or swapped ECU then go with the largest diameter nozzle. Again in order for this kit to help you make more power you will need an ECU tune so your tuner will help you decide how much spray you should be running to fit within your tuning guidelines.

Where to tap to read boost for the controller?

- You can get a decent reading if you T off of the stock bypass valve line or you can get a better reading if you choose a line directly off the charge pipe. While there are no nipples on the AEM charge pipe there are 3-4 from the coupler between your charge pipe and your turbocharger. If you look at the image below you can see the lines running from the charge pipe coupler, pick any of them with the right diameter and tap one of them. Be careful about running your like back into the cabin as you are very close to hot exhaust components in that position.

and how to connect to 12v source?

-This is an example of an add a fuse. I dont know which accessory they chose but you should choose one that is switched and has an existing fuse that is very large like your cigarette lighter becaue that will mean that the lines feeding that particular fuse are very large. Heated seats are also a good option for switched fuses.

I need picture please.
Thank you.

I hope that helps, also from your questions I would like to reiterate y recommendation to take it to your tuner and have them look the system over before they go trying to make more power. Meth kits do not make power by themselves and without a proper tune you will make less power than you would without the system because the methanol mix will water down your fuel spray. Meth kits help tuners to make more power by lowering the knock threshold and allowing a good tuner to add more boost without the knock that often limits these engines. Talk to your tuner before you start spraying meth into your engine and let them make the call about your nozzle as well.

here is my project so far, I'm still trying to figure out how to simply connect to 12v source, and I'm learning every parts of the car.
I took two photos where maybe exactly to tap for boost reading? the one above along the charge pipe, the blow off valve will be relocate to the top because of how AEM Charge pipe is set up. so Do I tap to the nipple of the Blow Off Valve for boost? if yes, I noticed that the boost hose from AEM and the tee fitting is a lot small compare to the nipple hose, " I have have to buy custom tee fitting... something like that.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...2005.39.32.mp4

Work done,
Tank mounted
Pump secured
Water/Meth hose good.

In progress,
4 wires that connects to pump and tank is short, I'm waiting for some wires.
Still trying to figure out how to get some wires and the boost hose to the engine bay, I manage to get the water meth hose to the engine bay
finding the good spot for boost reading
small tee fitting and small diameter of the hose from AEM compare to stock boost/vacuum line, How to connect that though?
Thank you.

*I will be having etune from freektune

after i'm all done with this, I will post a photos or videos.

I really need some good pictures with descriptions and lines.
Thank for that pictures by the way, Now it's making more sense but I'm still confuse.
