Stock boost???

Hey whats up??
my friend is purchasing a 02 WRX end of march begining of april and we were wondering what the stock boost on the WRX is? I did a search and I can't seam to find out. I found one thing though, that the boost can be turned up to about 14-15 psi before somekind of ems is needed... Is this true?

they claim 13.5psi...but that is kinda iffy...all depends on temp, etc...

and yes, you go over 14ish psi, you will be needing some form of fuel management...and timing too....

i would say get a UTEC....but i am gonna stay out of that argument!!

I know the evo pushes 20-21 and in cold temps 22psi... I've heard great gains in flashing the ecu... Stock Evo WHP from 230-240 and flashed to 270-280... can this be done on a WRX with the same results?

From what I know, the wrx can be pushed about to 260 with the Utec. Its about a 30 HP gain. Thats not a bad gain from one upgrade. Remember though, thats a EVO that you are comparing to.

yes. tuning is where you get the most gains.....

there are several options out there for engine management:

UTEC-piggyback controller that is easy to tune...and yields decent results
Reflash-great for most all mods, however, you need to reflash for new mods.
Standalone-ie, Link, MOTEC, or when it comes out, AEM EMS...best for high power cars, and large amounts of changes to running setup.

that is what i am doing on mine when it gets back on the road...hopefully the EMS will be out by then
