stock 2004 wrx brakes NOT STI

O.k, folks help me out with this one.

Ahem.... Is there an easier way to replace the pads on one of these 2 caliper one sided jobs short of dissecting the whole caliper? I tried to replace the pads on mine, (couldn't do it tho', the aftermarket pads simply would not fit ), but found that I needed to pull the caliper apart , just to get things back where they belonged. Is this the correct wy togo, or am I missing some very basic things here/

thanks for your time!

Richard

If your talking about seperating the caliper from the disc...then yeah. That's the only way I know how to do it.

Check out the HSPN videos on Brake System Maintenance: HSPN TV - HD Videos on Demand - Powered by HSPN Networks, LLC

I realize the car they're working on in the video is an STi with Brembo brakes, but the process might be the same. I don't know though because I don't have any personal experience with them.

what do you mean the pad would not fit? Did you press the pistons in with a clamp before you tried installing the pads and the caliper back on?

midnite, they wouldn't fit because they were aftermarket pads with bad fit and finish. I suppose that I am going to stock subie pads from the dealer, just to avoid that in the future.

That's crappy. What type of pad did you buy? So you're saying the pad would'nt fit into your caliper even with the pistons pushed all the way in?
