SLeeper 02 VS 04 STI

What do you guys think is a better IDea

I am going to come into some money in about a month, a pretty good amount. Should I sink like 5-6 grand in my 02 and just make a nasty sleeper out of it, or should I trade it in and get a 04 sti. I would probably keep the STI nearly stock.

What u think?

Bugeye for the win! PPG's with a STi shortblock would be sick. Thats what I plan to do.

08 STi Going with an sti will give you another car payment and higher insurance too. They are great cars, dont get me wrong. But for the money you are going to spend on it, you could put about half that amount into your wrx and beat stock or lightly modded STi's all day long(with some good driving skills)

Don't get me wrong ,I love my bugeye, but it I could swing a new 08 I would. I love the huge fenders on the new ones. They fit 275x40x18 with the need to mod them.

Bug-eye... But I'm partial
Looking at your mod list and the amount of money you're talking about, I'd say keep your 2.0 and transmission as it is. Get some power mods (turbo back, large top-mount, up-pipe, header, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, Engine Managment--should be around 1500 if you shop around and use ebay) and try to find STi 6 speed or version 5-6 sti 5 speed gears plus a better clutch.
Go slow or all at once on the power mods; be ready for the transmission to go, hence to be ready for the replacement.

I think that's ^^^ what you wanted to hear.
I'd personally find the best paying CD around and earn some more money for the car

No way I would get the 08. I dont like it. The 04-05 STi body style is my favorite.

I just put RA gears in my car, but i think i would like the 6 speed more.

Its seems about 50/50 so far, keep it coming!

you already have the RA gearset, keep the car, throw in an 18g and all supporting mods and some headers and some sway bars, and you would piss off some sti owners.

dont forget to get good tires. well within 6 grand u plan on spending and still fast. i still miss the seats of the 03's. alot more comfortable. the sti is rough and seats suck. i myself went from a bugeye to this sti, but i had the money for it, no payments here.

This thread is very one sided! I say keep the 02. +1 to the 2.5 shortblock. +2 Cos shortblock. Buy a cosworth and just beef it up!

USDM STI Shortblock -EJ257 shortblock

Subaru EJ25 Short Block Assembly w/ 79mm Billet Crank -Cosworth block

Keep the money to buy gas!

I vote to keep the bugeye, and upset not only STi owners, but a few Z06 owners as well!
