A used/non modded STI. 25k is about right for an 06. The 08 WRX's do look like Mazda 3's. Subaru paint is not that great.

A mazda 3!?! Crazyness! Ok maybe slightly. But I stick with my roots and stand with the 08's. And yes i would say go with a 06-07 Sti too.

Well, I am also a fan of the looks of the 3 Wagon. My bugeye was a wagon, so I think I might be a little biased. I dunno, I like the look of the STi, and I was on board with the persons who hate the 08 WRX, and wanted to see how they screwed up the STi, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the STi came out aight IMHO. I do not like that there are like 14 STi logos, and the one on the center console under the indash actually lights up (I have not confirmed this for myself, but I read that it did). That is a little gaudy for my tastes.

Yep, Tom thats right, loathe. I dont mind wagons/hatches (used to own a 2000 Focus ZX3). Its just the WRX and STI arent the stand out car they used to be. I dont really think I will ever come to like them as they look in their stock trim.

get rid of the hood scoop and really look at the headlights.........the 08 looks like a mazda......But IMO there are a few cars from mazda that look like wanna be subies.

I agree that the 08s looks are not that impressive. They are too round and squatty for me, however, it is still a subie and it has a killer engine and lots of potential.

LT1: There are some things you need to consider before making such a large investment.
1.) Most warranties are void as soon as you mod your car unless you buy additional coverage.
2.) Like 'newtothegame' said there's not much available right now in the way of aftermarket parts for the 08.
3.) What are you going to use this car for? I'm assuming that since you want to do some mods you will be utilizing the hp, and aren't you supposed to take it easy on a brand spanking new car until it's broke in?
4.) We drive our subies pretty hard, and that get's expensive, you don't want to have to fix a brand new car, hence the reason for buying BRAND NEW.
5.) Dude, the insurance on these cars is insane. Have you called around and priced? I think you will be surprised.

If you have considered all of these and you still want it....then I say do what makes you happy. Good luck to you, and welcome to the subie club.

Its not that I am against Subaru's by any means but I went for a ride in my buddies 08 EVO and it blew me away. I just think that Subaru went away from what was working for them and Evo's went with what was working for them. I am a huge fan of the 06 front end on the Suby's because they look aggressive. The 08's look like I am driving to soccer practice. Besides I want an Sti not a Mazada 3.

I know what andhow you feel suddenthomas, and couldnt have put it any better. Especially about the 06-07, lol, just biased there. But Like BC Girl asked, give a little more insight into your plans/wants/demands from the car or just get what you want and dont listen to anyone else sicne you will be the one living with the deicision and none of us.

Well ive been dumping money into the caprice like crazy, im sick of getting 8mpg i spend about 100 a week atleast on gas and since it has 135k on it stuff is just going out one after another. The best 1/4 mile its ran is a 14.14 ive done LT4 valve springs, accel opti, msd wires, plugs, and micky T drag slicks since then so i should be running high 13's. it would be nice to have a new/er car that can do the same but get better gas mileage.$400+a month in gas isnt working for me.

So will you be drag racing the WRX often? If so be ready to get a new and/or stronger tranny. I ran a 14.5 in my 07 WRX completely stock on stock tires. With some good practicing, engine management, downpipe, and tires you should be in the mid to low 13s possibly and still be able to get aroud 22-26 MPG depending on your driving habits.
